Cadillac doesn't seem to do anything wrong of late. The CTS and CTS-V (sedan, coupe and wagon) are gorgeous and well-regarded performers. The ATS is selling well, the ELR is mind-blowingly awesome, a complete redesign of the Escalade is coming soon, and some of the recent concepts from Caddy are blowing away auto show attendees.

I've long thought Caddy and Corvette are really the only good things about the GM bailout... and now, this tasty concept (which doesn't look to be far from production-ready).

FINALLY. A car worth saving my money for and wanting to take a depreciation hit on.

Cadillac really is making the new standard of the world. If that concept gets anywhere near as close to production as the XLR turned out, these things will outshine any Audi styling. I mean, this is pretty:

But THIS. This is what the Audi dreamed of being.

I especially love the tail lights.

Definitely gorgeous in all the right ways.

The crest looks wrong without the wreath. I hope it doesn't stick this way.

It just needs something backing it, to balance it out. Before the wreath there was the wide V. I think they could make that work on the newer models.

That's a damn fine idea, or they could do it for the VSport and V-series models.

Ahh, so that's how they fixed the bumper-falls-off problem. They eliminated bumpers!

I really like how the lines are just like the crest.

Look at the crest/emblem then look at the front again. The lights and hood look just like the crest and of course the grill.

Not bad looking. More evolutionary than revolutionary. Eldorado seems like an appropriate name for it, not Elmerfudd or whatever that name was. but I vote for another historic Cadillac name..... CIMARRON! I'm sure Caddy is gonna end up following the other manufacturers and use letters to name it if it goes into production. Kinda boring. Though I suppose it could be worse. They could do something really dumb like imitate Audi and name it Q followed by 2 digits instead of 1 digit....no, wait.

Nope. Too old. The Cimarron was a model from the early 1980's that real Caddy fans would prefer forgotten and buried. It was essentially a Chevy Cavalier with leather seats and a Cadillac badge. It was a major embarrassment.

Yes Catera, that's it. The "C" is what got me.

Interesting to learn that Wellburn wasn't fond of the diamond mesh grille. I'd like to see a photoshop of it with a traditional "black chrome" egg crate grille.

Doesn't work on the grille, but I think it would on the trunk.

I love the idea of applying the wide V only to V-models.

Also: Vsport and Fsport as trims are stupid. Why does sticking an extra performance-oriented word on your high-performance brand equal less performance?!?!?!?!?! Come up with a DIFFERENT name for DIFFERENT trim levels! A CTS V-sport and a CTS V should not be different things.

Final comment:
Nope. I still can't stand fender "vents". Make them go away NOW.
