How do you use the car?

I run a GT28R and it has a very nice powerband. I do run out of steam in the top end a little, but I was only running 9lbs of boost. ( AutoX and Track car -roadrace, not drag)

Motor is out of the car --but should be back in-in a couple of weeks and I am upping the boost if you want to see what the GT28R is like ( supposed to come on several hundred RPM sooner than the Potato turbo.

Glad to see another CA18 in the Albany area.

You know why they call it that right TMS?

1st Ultimate Street Car Challenge a Garrett engineer brought out his metallic green B14 with this wunder turbo that he concocted and the name stuck. The turbo went on to be a production unit we know as the GT2860RS.

If you use a compressor valve sourced from the hardware store as a boost controller you have a "monkey knuckle".Here is back story on that. Over here we have a hardware store called Makeman, not sure if it is just on Okinawa or Japan-wide. On the store sign is a monkey with a baseball cap and a hammer. People often call it the "monkey store". Back in the day I was poor, not much has changed, and I could not afford a flashy brand name boost controller. Understanding the basic concept of how they worked I realized a regular old compressor regulator would do the same thing for $20 so I used that.It was a big plastic knob, looked legit so people who didn't know anything always asked what kind it was so I started calling it a monkey knuckle. Years later I was looking at a guy's car and I noticed he had a manual boost controller. By then most people had electronic ones and had forgotten that the old manuals still worked. I commented about it and the guy said, "nothing special, just a monkey knuckle" I created a word, kewl.
