So, it's a constant challenge to find tires with just the right mix of requirements, be it racing, summer driving, or all-season requirements. Let's put some tire reviews in this thread!

We probably have another of these threads somewhere. I will take the information provided and host it for future use. If you have one of the tires that were reviewed and have a different opinion or simply want to add to the review then post a reply and a Moderator will update the appropriate post.

Car: 2008 G37s Coupe
Tire Brand/Model: Bridgestone Potenza RE050a
Size(s): 225-45-19, 245-40-19
Cost: $42,000 (they threw in the G37 coupe for free)
Mileage: 35,000 before replacement
Summer Performance: Very good traction
Wet Performance: Good wet performance, no real issues
Winter Performance: Not a winter tire, seemed OK in light slush
What were you looking for in a tire?: Nothing at the time
Would you recommend?: for summer, yes.
Review: In general these are good summer sport tires. As they wore they did get a bit noisy.

Car: 2008 G37s Coupe
Tire Brand/Model: Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110
Size(s): 245-35-19, 275-35-19
Cost: Appx $800
Mileage: 7,000 miles thus far
Summer Performance: Good traction and handling characteristics thus far in the spring. Unknown summer performance and wear.
Wet Performance: Good wet performance, no real issues
Winter Performance: Not a winter tire, tire was more "slick" in cold weather than the RE050a's. They seemed OK when warmed up.
What were you looking for in a tire?: Cheaper alternative than factory Bridgestone RE050a's
Would you recommend?: for summer, yes.
Review: So far, so good. They are quiet and have handled the weather quite well. Even during the winter months they were fine once the tires warmed up. The one time I drove in light flurries it was not a fun time so I would not attempt to use these during winter.

Car: 2007 G35s Sedan
Tire Brand/Model: Hankook Ventus V4 ES
Size(s): 225-50-18, 245-45-18
Cost: Appx $800
Mileage: 15,000 thus far
Summer Performance: Good summer traction
Wet Performance: Good wet performance, no real issues
Winter Performance: This is supposed to be an all-season tire and it fails in any accumulation of snow. Tires are slick when cold as well.
What were you looking for in a tire?: All-Season tire with good performance and acceptable light-snow capabilities
Would you recommend?: for summer, yes. For all-season use? No.
Review: Tires are quiet and have decent performance characteristics for a all-season. Forget using them as a snow tire. These tires are currently sitting in my shed as I pulled them for another all-season tire to get through the winter. I will put them back on shortly to simply wear them out. I did have to replace the front tires due to inner-ware but that was due to alignment and not the tire itself. Rear's have appx 15k and fronts only have 2k.

Car: 2007 G35s Sedan
Tire Brand/Model: ContiExtreme DWS
Size(s): 245-40-18
Cost: Appx $800
Mileage: 5,000 thus far
Summer Performance: Good summer traction
Wet Performance: Good wet performance, no real issues
Winter Performance: Good winter performance and stability
Would you recommend?: Absolutely
Review: these tires were put on as winter tires without having to go with a dedicated snow tire. I'm in an area that gets light dusting's or 2-3" at times (occasionally more) so I was looking for a all-season that did pretty good at everything. while hard to do I'm quite happy with these. They are quiet thus far, was acceptable in 3" of snow and do well in the rain. These tires have great dry traction as well. Where I used to be able to spin the Hankook V4's at will these tires give better grip. Hopefully they wear well.

Review: These were OEM tires and by rotating every other oil change they exceed the specs. They wear well.

What were you looking for in a tire?: Track Tires
Would you recommend?: YES
Review:
The best tires in the world unless it rains or you find a puddle. These tires stick stick stick, you have to get them warmed up a bit but once warmed you can corner much faster then you ever thought possible. Also tread life is short since they are rated at 30 UTOG tread life

Winter Performance:
What were you looking for in a tire?: came with the car
Would you recommend?: Depends,

Review: if you want a nice riding tire that was okay at traction and performance this might be the right tire for you. If you care about performance probably not, once breaking traction it stays broke

Car: 2007 G35 sedan
Tire Brand/Model: Kumho SPT

Cost: $800
Mileage: 22k
Summer Performance:yep
Wet Performance:
Winter Performance:
What were you looking for in a tire?: handling
Would you recommend?:yes but not in 45 sidewall on 17" rim
Review: Handled great car felt faster with these tires vs stock. 45 series sidewall bottomed out on everything!
Very forgiving, once the car breaks traction it recovers predictably and quickly.

Car: 2007 G35 sedan
Tire Brand/Model: Yokohama S drive
Size(s): 235/50/17
Cost: $800
Mileage: 30k
Summer Performance: you betcha
Wet Performance:
Winter Performance:
What were you looking for in a tire?: similar perforamce to Kumho SPT but 50 series so I could drive over speed bumps
Would you recommend?: yes
Review: handled good but ride was buttery smooth. This is the best all around tire.
I had a small patch come out of one tire at around 30k miles while in Tucson, drove back from Tucson - Phoenix on this tire no problems. STRONG tires. Could provide more traction, like the Kumho SPT did. The tread is almost exactly the same, the rubber felt much harder on the S drive vs the SPT. The sidewall on the S drive was softer then the SPT.

Car: 2007 G35 Sedan
Tire Brand/Model: Primewell PZ900
Size(s): 255/50/17
Cost: $100-$150 each
Mileage: 30k
Summer Performance: yes
Wet Performance:
Winter Performance:
What were you looking for in a tire?: 255/50/17 for cheap
Would you recommend?:yes
Review: This is my second set of these tires, I get about 30,000 miles out of a set. They do everything well. Great traction, good in rain. Very little road noise. The ride is harder then any other tire I have ran. Side wall is very strong. Once traction is broke recovery is quick and predictable. I will probably keep buying these tires for the life of the car. They do everything I want at a price that makes them disposable. If I want to slide the car around or brake stall burn out I don't feel guilty destroying $200-300 worth of tire. They last so long but as they wear traction deteriorates. The last 5,000 miles can be scary.

Winter Performance:
What were you looking for in a tire?: widest tread shortest side wall for drag racing
Would you recommend?: sure

Review: I bought these tires used for use at the drag strip. They hook up good and with 30 series side wall on a car designed for 55 series they really increase the final drive ratio. Putting these short tires on the back of the G is like swapping the rear axle ratio for 4.56 gears. I get into 4th gear in the 1/4 mile on these. They are so short that you must disable the VDC or the car will not move because they are so short.

Here they are next to a 235/50/17

How many miles do you have on that poor car? :)

Can you power-brake the '07? I haven't tried in the sedan....

100,278 miles and it loved every second of it! I'm on my 5th set of street tires.

07 does not have speed limiter unless an X. 07 does get pissed if you brake stall. At the track the best thing to do is drive around the water box, brake stall for a second then once the tires start spinning let up on the brake and keep them lit. You want the Toyo's heated but not melty. Somewhere in between gets a nice 60'

I stopped taking it to the track around 80k miles.

You can't do a "brake stall" on a G37 auto so that option is out....I'll have to play in the sedan when the wife is not in it ;)

DO ittttt

Good change to change your brake fluid at the same time. Or install the line lock and take the G to the dealer for brake flush and bleeding.
