So i have searched and read plenty on people relocating and building their own harness in the s13 chassis, but only with different motor swaps. Im currently relocating both engine bay fuse boxes to either the trunk, or somewhere in the passenger seat area and im interested in pictures/info from anyone who has done it w/ an sr. I know people have done it....but no pictures....SO LETS SEE EM!

I know of a thread where someone did this, with pics. But meh, too lazy to go look for it. However, its just making longer wires, why do you need pics? You want a step by step tutorial?

All I remember was that it was a HUGE build thread in the FA forum. He put it under the dash.

A few years ago we redid a buddy's harness. He wanted everything unnecessary taken out. We also relocated the battery to behind one of the seats and moved the main/only fusebox to behind the radio area. There was a sale on purple electrical tape if I recall.

Original full chassis and engine harness:Working on the harness:The "necessary" (Left) and the "Unnecessary" (Right):Final product:

This harness was so versatile that we were able to test it on another car, testing the lights and starting the engine, without removing any panels.

My friend above also ended up doing something similar on an R32 GTR.

Holy crap! that looks like alot of work!

I relocated all the wires w/o having to pull the harness out of the car. It still took some time though. All my fuse and relay boxes are under the passenger side dash(its the easiest place. if you wanted to relocate everyting to the trunk all the wires would have to be extended), and the battery is in the trunk. If you guys would want to see some pics I can get pics tomarrow( to hard to take at night).

Damn Nick. That's too much work IMO.

What all did he remove from the system to get the pile that big? I see the SMJ is apparently unnecessary to him. Probably couldn't de-pin it? I'm assuming he was prepping up a track car?

I'd love to see. Might have to bring my car down to you one day far into the future to do something similiar.

That would take way too much patience and time for me to hassle with it.

I love wiring. I find it easy to do, and I get a really big sense of accomplishment once it's done. But I wouldn't want to tackle a harness redo like that.

Of course, I mentally took notes one day what wires I could pull out of my chassis harness, and I couldn't come up with anything since I haven't really removed anything electric from the system. I suppose I could remove the seatbelt wiring for my old seatbelts since they're gone. Not worth the effort for 4 wires about 6 feet long each.

If I was building a track car, that would be a different story.

I just don't have the patience for it. It's not my favorite aspect when it comes to tinkering on the car. If I ever have the interior ripped back apart, then I might mess with it, but I don't know.

I did this on my s14 SR this past weekend. Both the battery and fuse box are now relocated in the trunk.

That was my roomate Erik and I working on that harness. We both love wiring stuff up. I think its fun because we can bring the wires back into the house and work on them while doing things like watching TV.

That purple harness had the following wires taken out: seatbelts, popups, gauge cluster, wipers, turn signals, reverse lights, defrost, HVAC wiring, and some other stuff. We left wires running to the front of the car for the essentials only which was pretty much power and gounds for HID's or other headlights. Also we added relays for higher power headlights since the power for regular headlights goes through the lighting switch IIRC. The igniter chip was moved to the inside near the ECU. He used Defi gauges for his measurements so we just left the pigtails for the necessary gauges.

Here are some more photos of us testing the harness before looming the harness. It went into a different car that went through many phases, I doubt that harness is still in existance. Nevertheless this car ran, ive got a vid to go with it.

Here are some pics of the R32 Skyline GT-R Erik relocated the harness for: Notice the fusebox in front of the radiator. This car was running in this state. - Fairlady Motors/UPGarage, Tacoma WA

On this S13 Erik partially relocated the wiring. Battery in back. S15 dash, starter was wired to the defrost button in the center console with the fuel pump and ECU power wired to those two toggle switches. This car has been posted in other threads elsewhere on the board. - Extreme Auto Salon, Federal Way WA

Let me know if you want any specifics of the wiring harness's. I dont remember too much. I do know that the Subaru engine swap we did had more work involved than the purple S13 harness.

I dont think anybody ever did a write up. It is fairly simple. The S15 dash is wider than the S13 dash so you need to trim the sides. You may also need to use the S15 dash support. You need to convert to RDH. Wiring up most of the lights is easy but the speedo as usual is an issue. I'll ask my friend Erik for more info. BTW he works here at the moment, http://www.upgarageusa.com/

I dont have pics of the purple harness installed in the car because we put it in at another shop and I never took pics. He may have some somewhere but I havent talked to him in awhile.

Hi I have just bought SR20DET from S14 . I have a S13 with CA18DET engine. I live in Poland and here in europe there are no S13 with KA but only S13 with CA engines. I cant find how to make S14 harness working with battery area fuses and how to connect S14 harness to ignition and Dashboart. If you have any diagrams witch colour should go to witch it'll be extremely helpful. my email is [email protected] . If you have some walkthrough or tunning shop i can even pay by paypal for this information.

I meant the harness not the dash.
