The death of an Altima

Leaving the gym I got T-Boned by a speeding Civic . She was speeding but the witnesses didn't stick around for the cops and she didn't hit her brakes so there were no skid marks leaving me at fault. Anyway, walked away pretty much other then a small cut on my knee, both front and side airbags went off.

The worst though is that I had this ringing in my ear after it happened and it's been about a week and the ringing hasn't stopped and I don't have full hearing in that ear still. Paramedics on scene said it was from the airbag going off next to my ear.

Anyway, just found out the car is totaled by USAA. She hit me right in the front wheel and that broke the wheel bearing and messed up a lot of the suspension. They're giving me just about kbb ($17k) which is nice since I had 52k miles on it.

Sucks!!!!! Good to hear only minor scrapes but that ringing in the ear is not good ! So your car was paid off already? Or insurance / Gap insurance going to pay for it?

That sucks man but glad to hear oy got out of it ok. On a good note though, you can buy an 06 350Z for the amount you got and no car payments!

I feel ur pain man. almost got into an accident last night. deer bolted out in front of my car last night and i avoided it but was all over the road trying to recover from missing it, scary. gripped the steering wheel so hard i broke my fingernail lol.

Thanks. Yeah I'm having a specialist look into the ear situation.

As far as the next ride, my one requirement was a manual this time around, that was my only regret getting the Altima. I also am currently unemployed at the moment so whatever I get def has to be whatever I can buy outright. I just finished payments on it in December and got the title the day before the accident.

I looked at a 350z roadster but the trunk was just so small...couldn't even fit a normal sized suitcase in there.

So we'll see, but I'm sure whatever I do end up getting will be short term until I find work again and then I can get whatever I really want new.

@nismoqxs21 yeah I live in clearwater for the time being.

@ranqa14 actually didnt end up seeing her, there were 2 lanes heading northbound and I didn't see her hauling a** behind a car in the lane closest to me doing normal speed. Whomever was in that other car, they just kept driving.

Wow sorry to hear about the crash.

And what you're describing I can understand totally. I've been close to getting smashed like that by a "hidden" car on the left lane because the guy in the right lane was in front perfectly hiding the faster one. Luckily I always happen to see the outter lane car as approach the intersection or before it goes out of view and have avoided a mishap... It's just one of those things that can happen any time.

Well good luck on the job hunt and hopefully your ear issue works out. I'd be super frustrated had I paid off the car a day before, I wouldn't know if I would blame the other driver or myself - you both probably couldn't see each other sounds like (even if she didn't speed).

hahaha car is gone. The headlights were custom made from Brandon (most of you should remember that drama). The front left was destroyed and the front right I couldn't be sure that nothing internally had come lose, plus I had a few LED's that were no longer working in it. Just couldn't pass that along to someone knowing that. Sorry guys, wish I had more for ya.

I'd look at another brand altogether. Depreciation on Nissan's is rather sad

Glad you're ok. Cars can be replaced. But still a shame. Be safe.
