Just curious, I am going to do this but have heard that speaker wire is not good to use with the ecm. I am not sure why; is that true. Also, after compeleted is there any way that this could damage my ecm in the future?

no, it wont damage ur ecm, and i used 14G wiring, its usefull because its bendable, and it closest size to what your car already has in it

Seto wrote:ey guys i dnno what the problem is, when i hit the switch, my idle drops to like 300-400, and the car seems to be choking, if u tap the gas it will shut off, but if you ease on it, you can almost get the car going

wtf, i checked my wires, and their not connecting anywhere

how did he mount it there?
When you hit the switch the car will not immediately die. There is still fuel in the rail and the lines that will get sucked out. It sounds like your switch is working correctly but it seems like you thought by installing this switch that if you flipped it when the car was still running your car would shut off like when you pull out the key. This is not the case. You are making a fuel pump kill not an engine kill. When the fuel pump gets killed you still have gas that needs to be used before the car will totally die out. Hope that helps.

Dude i am so confused right now. What do you mean your friend got the car started? Was it not supposed to start? Did he hot wire it? Sounds like your car some other issues. If you followed the guide exactly your car should act no differently than before. I say undo all you work and sort out your issues. If it's fine with no switch retrace your steps and see what you did wrong. This is on the lower end of skill needed so you should be able to get it right. GL

i meant, with the switch on, meaning the fuel pump shutoff, he got the car on, using the key, and it was on the verge of shutting off, but it does that sometimes

Was looking over some of my old posts and figured this one could be worth something to others. So get out there and make your car that much harder to steal.

Go to Radioshack or HomeDepot or any hobby store. A little 25 or 30 watt soldering iron (good for most of your automotive electrical needs) runs about $10-25 depending on brand and if it comes with accessories. Get electrical solder the, "high-tech" rosin core kind. Look up how to solder on the intraweb . I do it so infrequently that I don't have good clamps or anything to hold wires so it's a pain in the azz to solder connections especially with wire that likes to curl back up. As least crimp it with some butt connectors. You don't want that stuff coming loose when you're driving at high speed/RPM's. That could result in some serious problems.

Won't thieves be able to remove the ECU cover, pull the wires and and tie them back into place?

The relay wire should be cut much further down so that people won't be able to tell which is doing the engine kill.

Getting my vert in a few weeks and I people keep telling me to get a kill switch. This looks like such a great, easy, and cheap security upgrade. Thanks alot. Great write up.
