Approx. three weeks ago, I sat down and figured out how to re-wire the ECU. I saw a thread on FA about the subject right around when Anthony was having some problems with his car. I tried their way. Didn't work. My ECU saw 12v+ all the time. Even with the car off. So, I thought on it for a while. Then I thought, how about two lines?

Precautions:

Always disconnect battery terminals when working with the electrical system.Always test stuff out when you are done.

So, what you will need:

1-30a relay1-Xft section of 16g wire depending on where you get 12v+ from1-Xft section of 16g wire for relay-to-ECU power wire1-approx. 7ft section of 16g wire1-Xft section of 16g wire for ground

Now, what you do:

1) Find the black w/white stripe power wire running to your ECU. Use this reference to find it.2) Strip about a 2cm section of it exposing the wire. Solder the relay-to-ECU 16g section to this wire. DON'T CUT IT COMPLETELY!3) Remove the panels covering the bottom of the steering column.4) Find black w/white stripe ignition wire from the ignition. (its a 12g wire IIRC)5) Strip a 2cm section of it exposing the wire. DON'T CUT IT COMPLETELY!6) Solder the 7ft piece of 16g wire to the Black w/white ignition wire.7) Run it over by the ECU any way you choose. I ran it behind the sterio and glovebox.8) Find a good ground point and ground the 16g ground wire to it.9) Find a solid 12v+ source. My battery cable runs right through that area so I just stripped some of it and soldered my common wire to it.10) Connect the wires in this fashion:16g wire for ignition goes to pin 8516g wire for ground goes to pin 8616g wire for relay-to-ECU goes to pin 8716g wire for solid 12v+ goes to pin 3011) Cover all connections well and put it back together.12) Reconnect battery cables and see how it runs.

Now the idea is: When the ECU would be losing power due to poor factory wiring, this "backup" circuit will keep 12v+ going to the ECU. I didn't really feel any kind of difference nor do I have documentation of voltage drop. Others do tho. I just found the solution. I wonder if those FA.com guys know they have 12v+ at their ECU all the time?

Enjoy. Pics soon.

LOL - Isn't that the place where they make fun of us for having no technical expertise?

Good stuff Cory - well done.
