Ever since studded winter tires were banned in Japan and Bridgestone introduced Blizzak Studless Winter tires to help drivers get a better grip in the slipperiest winter road conditions they would face, many tire manufacturers have evolved their method of enhancing packed snow and ice traction. Drivers now have several choices when it comes to selecting Studless Winter tires to match their driving conditions.

To find out how capable the Blizzak REVO 1 is, The Tire Rack team conducted a Real World Road Ride and Performance Ice Rink Drive to compare the Blizzak REVO 1 with several other popular Studless Winter tires, the Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50, Dunlop Graspic DS-2 and Michelin X-Ice.

Michelin PA2 tires are in a different class. They are high performance winter tires. High performance winter tires are designed to give you the least "snow tire" feel on clear roads, yet still give you better than all season tire winter performance. If you live in an area that gets light winters but a snow tire is still warrented, tires like the PA2 are for you. If you live in an area with heavy snow, that is what the dedicated snow tires like the X-Ice and WS-50 are for. This is why we do not test them head to head because the PA2 and the X-Ice are designed with different conditions in mind. For a high performance snow tire, the PA2 is a great tire and a good all around choice.
