Newman and Redford in "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid". The conversation on that scene is pretty germaine to the topic at hand too.

Butch and Sundance have been chased by a posse relentlessly and jumping off the cliff and into the river is the absolute last resort but Sundance (Redford) doesn't wasn't to jump. He finally confesses that he can't swim. Butch just laughs and says, "Hell, the fall will probably kill you."

What happened is that Senate republicans succeeded in raising the tax limit from 200k to 400k but had to cave on spending cuts and house repubs were left out of the loop, as usual.
