What would you get if Sports Center and Top Gear got together and had a child? You'd get The Car Show. It premieres July 13 on Speed. Here's the scoop on it...

http://www.insideline.com/car-news/the- ... ed-tv.html

Hosted by Adam Carolla, Wall Street Journal car columnist Dan Neil, former Detroit Pistons star John Salley and Matt Farah of TheSmokingTire.com. I'm assuming from the promo I saw that's Top Gear (the BBC version) with a Sportcenter slant, in that they do road tests and races and all the stuff that Top Gear does but they also argue and debate behind a giant desk like they do in Sportcenter. I'll be checking it out.

I just saw a commercial for it today. I don;t watch Speed as much as I used to as they' ve been airing way too much NASCAR stuff. I'm planning to watch it with an open mind.

I <3 Adam Corolla. I will also be tuning in (I think they should put him on American TG).

Yeah been hearing about the show for a bit now on his podcast, first thing in a while that has made me miss speed.

looking forward to it though, he has mentioned plenty of cool things he was out doing for the TV show... With how much he has bitched about network interference in past shows/projects he hopefully will keep the quality of this one high with out letting speed mess with it too much.

I shall check it out.

I like Corolla. We'll see how it goes I reckon.

Top Gear US can do without Adam Ferrara and Rutledge Wood though....Rutledge reads poorly from a prompter. I thought Tanner would be the one to stink up the show but he's been a surprise.

Here's the thing with Top Gear US, Rutledge Wood is a radio and print guy and he knows NASCAR and that's about it. Adam Ferrara is a car guy in the same capacity that your dads are car guys, he knows about old school muscle and might even be a shade tree mechanic but only to a point and even that is pushing it. Tanner is a real deal car guy, he knows how to drive, has been known to help turn a wrench with his pit crew and he knows cars in every price range, plus he used to have a show test driving supercars on Speed so he knows how to host a show, he just lacks any real substance or personality to host a show. Frankly, if they had opted for Adam Carolla and any of the editors from Motor Trend or Road and Track and maybe a writer for any of the numerous other car magazines I think the show would flow smoother. The secret of the success of Top Gear UK is that all Clarkson and May both got their start writing reviews and articles in car magazines and Hamster was a Radio DJ, so all 3 knew how to entertain and inform at the same time, the chemistry helps, but it's their background and knowledge that really sell the show. Top Gear US doesn't have any of those things. The Car Show however uses the same formula as Top Gear UK, they have a radio DJ (Adam, who really knows his cars) and 2 car reviewers, the only difference is they have John Salley, who frankly is the odd man out, but he is what will give it the Sports Center feel, which is informative and entertaining. Should be some good stuff.

Ezra Dyer from Automobile would fit in very well based off his column and articles in it.

Jamie Kitman too.

being a writer and being a tv host are two very different things though.

As a car guy and a Nissan fan I see it as impossible to "hate" Adam Corolla.
