I finally got a second key made for the Camel ... (technically a third key?!?)

it was supposed to take 45 minutes... I was there for 2 hours before I was like, okay, I work today and I need to be there. So they got me a car... An Altima... with CVT.

*jism*

I liked it, but it also made me appreciate my Camel and just how much it doesn't suck for an entry-level vehicle... (there was a sign calling the Versa a "Next Generation Sedan"... but they had a pic of the hatchback... WTF?

Jeff (service guy) walks up to me and is like, "Your car's British, but it's acting like it's French. It refuses to talk to the new fob. We're giving it a minute then we'll try again."

I didn't know what to say to that... So I replied that it must be the Renault platform... I thought maybe it was too nerdy to say that Sopwith Aviation contracted out 1/4 of their production out of France and mine must be one of those...

I drove the Altima (utilizing the ability to shift the CVT like a manual ... drool) to the courthouse and then back to work... then Jeff called to say it was finished. Yay. I picked the Camel up after work... Almost $192... $45 for the fob and $139 for the labor... that doesn't work out ... but it was $192.xx total... and I must've gotten a discount somewhere... who knows. I paid it and went on with life. The Camel now has 2 keys again... Now I need to find a new keyring to carry it on...

The altima was definitely an adjustment to drive when I had it as an overnight loaner when the Versa's power socket died.

Were the brakes on yours twitchy too?

I think the point is that the 5 door Hatchback is the new best Family car, better than the regular 4 door sedan. Hatchbacks have traditionally been 3 doors.

Its like saying "Pink" is the new "Black"? (I guess Madison ave is not in NYC)

Your dealer isn't required to give you one, only good dealers will... like mine and Kimber's.

I need to file a claim in order to have my insurance reimburse me for a rental.

As for the dealership thingy... usually I don't need a loaner, but I usually schedule that over a week in advance... this was a special case where I was stuck there for way longer than I was supposed to be. As an aside... my dome light doesn't work now.

Rental reimbursement on an insurance policy is usually in case of an accident. The insurance company will pay for your rental while your car is in the body shop after a wreck.

Very few (though I know of one) insurance companies offer a separate insurance where they will issue you a rental car in case of a mechanical breakdown.
