I've been reading the various posts regarding engine oil, and the best to use. This all tends to focus on Mobil1, Royal Purple, Redline, Amsoil, etc. with many opinions. Here's the issue......I recently had an oil change in which the new oil put into the vehicle ('08 G37 Coupe 4000 miles) was a "generic" version of Mobil1, due to the fact that no one can get the real stuff as the refinery is damaged. (so I was told). After the oil change, I felt a noticable performance degredation within a few minutes of leaving. I think I can even hear a difference in the exhaust sound. Could this be a psychological thing, or has anyone had this same type of experience?

I want to go with Royal Purple now, as Mobil1 is difficult to find.

What are your thoughts? What oil does Infinity (Nissan) put in at the factory?

First of all, do yourself a favor and open your door. Look at your kick plate and read what it says. Then look at the back of your car and see what make it is. Then look at your profile and post and try to make a connection with proper spelling. When you're done with that, check out this post. http://forums.g35club.org/zerothread/407400

Hey Poyz, noticed spelling(now)....how embarrasing......my bad.It should be fixed now. Likely too many beers that night. Didn't intend to irritate......

Thanks for the link. Ever heard of the perceived loss of performance?

It may be possible. Generic oil may affect total power because it causes the VVEL system to react slower since it runs off oil pressure and electrical signals, that and the fact that synthetic is less restrictive and GOSH DARNIT just use a quality oil. No cheap stuff. I was just teasing you with the spelling. It secretly annoys me but I mean no harm to anyone. The second part of my title should be Literary Psycho or something.

Once again Poyz......

Hee Hee.... sythetic might mean syNthetic.....

Check your last writing.

Seriously, agreed with quality oil. Thus the trial of RP.

All out there seem to think highly of it.

I'm going put that in and note my impressions.

Also, at revs of 5500 and above, I notice a drop in the punch the car has. Almost like it runs a bit rich. Motor doesn't burble or anything .... just seems to lack the same strong power it has at around 3000 - 4500 Rs or so. Again, it may just be me.....
