Worked alil more on my sub pods and amp rack tonight its slowy getting there. I snapped afew shots of the setup outside the car. First right about the amp will bee a 8"audiobahn midbass and then a 12'' alum in each pod. Each of the 3 pieces will be able to come apart , the main reason was i wanted to be able to get to my airbag computer if i ever needed to so unhook afew wires and the amprack will pull out once i get farther i'll take acouple more.

Any comments or ideas feel free to post always like to hear what others have to say also getting a better digitalcam and computer in acouple weeks so the picture quality will be alot better

i'm thinking about having the 8inch midbass there then possibly either 5 1/4 components or coaxs just plopped some in the pic just to see how they might look

If you put any "mids" back there, how would you "direct" them? A mid bass wouldn't need direction (as much), but would seem to be overpowered by the subs.

Now a mix of 12's and 8's might give a more complete (frequency wise) low end sound.

If you put midrange speakers back there, the higher the better for carrying that sound to the listener.

its taken awhile its my first big fiberglass project and i'm still on a learning curve i don't have too too much do do some more supports mount the other sub ring felt and glass then the dreaded sanding one quick idea which would look better have it paintable or wrap it in vinyl and the paint will either be just plain black gunmetal or chameleon maroon to gold solid with them or mix and matched

n00b question: You've removed your back seats and are hooking up your system (subs/amps) there, right?

yeah there isn't to much more that has to be done before i get to wrap it in fleece and start covering them need to make sure the sub rings get alot of support i don't want the box flexing from 1800 watts and bouncing around on the backroads to my house i think i'll do 2 layers of fleece then acouple matt and cloth

Just a quick suggestion. I've found for working with fiberglass, rubber gloves, and lots of baby powders will save you from itching like crazy later. Good luck enjoy your project!

baby powder, like put it on after you've gotten the glass dust on you to keep down itching? and yeah i always use rubber gloves and even more important a resperator i used to be alright with inhaling all the fumes but after awhile i just was always coughing up nasty sh*t so spent 25 bucks and now i can breathe clearly while working. I found that latex and rubber gloves work the best i used i think they are vinyl gloves thin disposable ones and about halfway through a fiberglassing session the resin was eating through them

Well went to good ol walmart and bought 5 yards of Ol Navy Perfomance Fleece for wrapping the rack and pods tonight built the 8inch midrange bracket and did some sanding then decided to fleece my amp rack its starting to get the look

also i have 3 pounds of sounddeadning spray in the backseat to give the setup alil cushion when installed oh yeah last night glassed and bondoed the inside of the sub pods just have to finish the subrings on them do alittle trimming and then they are ready to be fleeced i'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel acouple hundred of dollars later:)

is that the only amp you're gonna be runnin? or is it the only one that you'll actually be showing? either way, it's lookin pretty tight man!

that sound deadening spray isn't cheap... where'd you get it? and how much?

oh and you said you glassed AND bondo'd the inside of your sub pods... why did you bondo the inside?

used bondo just to fill big gaps where the mdf meet the fiberglass back i screwed each peice in with like 20 lil one inch screws then on the on the inside layerd glass to cover the gaps then finally on filled any large gaps with bondo

The sound deadning is made by DUPLICOLOR big 16oz black can that says professional underbed coating and sound deadner its like 7 a can here but is made of a rubberized dampener compared to the cheap spray on stuff 3 dollars a can thats made of asphalt which melts in the sun and stinky up the car like they just paved a road in your back seat

Lastly thats just going to be for my amp that powers the subs going to eventually get a 4 channel a new HU and 3 way comps up front all the other amps eq's power distribution will all be in the trunk which will be kinda done in the same way as the back seat with as much curves and fiberglass i can:)

worked like 6 hours today boxes should be ready to fleece tomarrow afternoon and put a layer of resin on the amprack fleece tonight

check out this thezeb.com... they have the CDT HD-642 High Definition 3-ways for $399 on sale from $599... i heard from many people that there is no comparison between the HD's and the Classics which i have, they are a completely different design and sound much better... or you can get the same ones i got CL-641's which still sound damn good for $249 cause they're on sale too... both sets have the same FOUR crossovers...
