What does the abbreviation "vlsd" stand for?numbnuts240 wrote:that's not bad at all. it is a base model which means there are 4-lug steelies under those hub caps, def no vlsd, no rear sway bar and no abs. it does have an se wing on it though . i say go for it.

To OP, that sounds like a great deal. How does the motor sound? Any rattles in there?
I will be sure to check the car for various rust spots thanks for the advice everyone.will definately take more pics if i choose to buy it...sebazztard wrote:definatly look for rust. i bought mine for 750 with very little rust with a wiring nightmare, but runs and shifts excellent (auto for now). depends how much work it needs and how clean it is. for that price, she better be rust free with minor repairs needed, like a brake job or needs a hub or something simple. looks good from pics. check the trunk for rust on the rear strut towers, thats where i found my problem area, and also check the subframe, my other problem.
The SE's are not the only ones that came w/ the wings etc. My wifes car is a base and it has the wing, sunrooof and ABSnumbnuts240 wrote:that's not bad at all. it is a base model which means there are 4-lug steelies under those hub caps, def no vlsd, no rear sway bar and no abs. it does have an se wing on it though . i say go for it.
I agree with you man it is a good deal for an s14 and he's having a bunch of people call him about the car but It's mines tomorrow(If it runs well)ThuG LyFe wrote:i think it's a wonderful deal if you don't mind the horrible color and the horrible interior. those wheel wells look dirty as heck so just look under for rust and stuff. if it's not too much then it shouldn't be that bad.
also to the guy that assumed base doens't have abs/vlsd, for future reference that is not true. abs/vlsd was a factory option regardless of trim, how do i know? i have both. now, weather they came separate i do not know for sure but i think most of the times they came together. there are even SE models w/o that option. as for OP, your car does NOT have abs and probably won't have vlsd either. but a clean body s14 5 spd that runs well (if it does) for 2500 in 2009 is definately a good deal, don't pass up.
SE MUST have, white gauges, 5 lugs, fogs, lip, spoiler, the funny pattern seats, and like rear sway or something. i dono what "options" you're talking about but all the SE's i've seen had at least those listed above. maybe the previous owner took all the goodies out to be resold?sebazztard wrote:speaking of se's base, etc... off topic kinda, i know...but is it possible to have an se with no options? my title says SE but i have nothing to prove from it...all numbers match w/ clean history.
You are correct on all of the above. You can also tell because S14 SE's have intermittent wipers and cruise, both of which the OP's potential buy does not.ThuG LyFe wrote:

like sunroof, spoiler, abs/vlsd, cd player, upgraded speakers, etc also come on base models too so i wouldn't call them SE options.
Yea cuz the emblem doesn't come off.lrb_2000 wrote:If this car was an SE model, it would say SE on the back. End of story.
Thats def a question to search for, it's been covered a millon and a half times. BTW I have a base model with cruise control.Boosted Gator wrote:Not to be ignorant but what is the difference between Zenki, Kouki, or just regular. Is it just a body kit thing or are there some other things I dont know about?
yeah if you do any sort of VIN search it'll come up as SE =/or at least every single one i looked up, whether base or not came up as SE.sebazztard wrote:yea. not trying to sound ignorant myself since all i do is 240 homework... i just find it real odd that my title comes up as SE. i have no add-ons.
to the previous poster, kouki is 97-98, and zenki is 95-96, search button above will tell you all the differences.
OP, odd the interior is blue. i didnt know s14s came with blue interior. if you like it get it. you are the one that has to live with it and be happy. me personally, i cant wait to tear this coupe interior out and respray it black...brown is buggin me bad. good luck with whatever you choose
