600hp S30 runs away from a TT Viper like that? Something's not right...sounded good though.

(I bet ~1000hp is a bit trick to launch with on the street)

There is another race to be held at some point, the second run vs. the viper resulted in a broken ringland.

That viper was making more like 800 at the wheels (says dyno). Traction was a major issue for him jon said, those were 19s that viper was on.

If the RB25DET was internally stock, I'm betting it was the 280Z. The limit for the stock top ring is somewhere around ~450-500hp. Look for a thread on skylines austrailia for "why your RB25 blew up" and 90% of the failures are the top ring/top ring land. Good read at how many people are idiots and boost to 20-25 psi without tuning.

first off hes no idiot, and his car was TUNED, he ran it for around a year at the 500whp hp level with zero issues, it was when he began pumping no2 through its cylinders is when issues arrouse, making 595whp, on standard internals through a th350 non the less and an un opened block is a great achievement, so as you can see it did not last. He simply was testing the limits of the block, and well it seems as if he had found them.

awesome video JT, race could be counted in bus lenghts.

I almost dont believe it... That was ****ing amazing.

The viper weighs probably 3300 lbs - 800hp, the Z probably 2500 - 600 hp.. It would make sense that the Z would win, but it won by a lot!

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying he was an idiot and didn't tune the car, but it just adds to the long list of engines that have broken rings and lands around the 500 hp mark. I would estimate that 75% of the engines in that SAU thread only had a chipped ECU for fuel management.

IMO 595hp is extremely impressive on a stock block. I can't wait to see what he does with it when he rebuilds!

That car was not for sale FYI.

http://www.hybridz.org if you guys really wanna learn some good stuff. Really bright group and lots of tech that can be applied to any car. That car was J. Taylors car from hybridz.org

BTW, he knew the motor would give it was just a matter of how long.

I know the viper was not hooking well etc.. but that video still gives me goosebumps!
