Im sorry but when they decided not to have cup holders due to weight reduction, they decided not to have rear seats also.

Under the S14 Trim levels, you should add that LE models came with keyless entry and anti-theft device, some even with Bose stereo.

Did anyone figure out how difficult the R32 skyline tails are to install on a s13 coupe? From what I perceived the r32 and the s13 Coupe resemble each other alot, so I was just curious. I have seen the whole front r32 clip swapped onto a s13 , I'm just curious about the tail lights. If anyone knows please, drop me a line.

[QUOTE=SeVa-S13]A popular modification is to replace the underpowered KA24 series engine with a Japanese SR20DET engine from a Japanese 240SX, known as the Silvia. The SR20DET comes with approximately 205/225/250hp and later models introduced variable valve timing. While the engine is swapped, the transmission also must be swapped to the SR20DET transmission. 1989-1998 Japanese Silvia’s have 5-speed transmissions, while 1999-2002 Silvia’s have 6-speed transmissions.

Another popular modification is to turbocharge the stock KA24-series engine. A custom or pre-fabricated turbo kit adds as much as 70hp to the engine and extends the power band well past 5500RPM all the way to redline. Because the engine is built with an iron block and forged internals, and has a long stroke, careful tuning of a turbocharged KA24 engine can produce a very powerful torque monster in excess of 250hp and 280ft-lbs of torque.

QUOTE]Hi guys I am new to the 240's so I am trying to learn as much as I possibly can. the main problem is which motor I want to run, the KA24, or the SR20. I was reading this thread and it specifically says that the KA turbo will do 250hp but it also says that the SR20 Turbo does 250 hp. My Question is: is this correct, if so why does everyone switch to the SR motor?

It's just preference, SR was originally built to handle a turbo. Plus its rev happy and lighter. It's a 200hp engine that's ready to go, stock.

There are also benefits of KA-T which most people would say is Torque. Ever since SR prices skyrocketed KA-T setups grew as an alternative and because of that a main problem that is often seen with KA-T setups is that it's cheaply done which can lead to lots of problems, but if done right, well...

So the SR20DET does put out more power than a KA, and is more reliable. I am not exactly on a tight budget but money not wasted on a motor can be wasted elsewhere on the vehicle.

Yes, the stock SR does make more power than a stock KA. For being reliable well it depends how well the SR engine you got is and swapped and how well the KA-T was built...

alright I don't mean to be a pain, but would it br more cost efficient to invest say...$5000 into a 97 LE with the KA24DE, or invest the same amount in a motor swap, and overall, no specific amount of $ I'm assuming the SR would be overall more powerful, better choice

Since you already have that feeling just go with it. IMO I'd have to agree w/ you, there's a reason why it became so popular, but like I said that's just MY opinion. There are quite a couple members on here that would disagree w/ me tho...

stock SR20DE has less power than the KA24DE. I think its like 140 vs 155. If you boost a KA24DE, with SR injectors/fuel pump and a ECU reflash, running the same boost as an SR, it will still have more power. If they are both stock that is. Save your 4 grand for an SR and boost the KA for like 1500 or less. If you had 4 grand to kill on just a swap, you could build a mean mamajamma KA24 that would put a hurting on some tunned SR20s.KA24DE-T>SR20DET IMO. There's no replacement for displacement (other than airflow)

so does the s13 KA really come with forged internals? ive read threads (including the official ones) where they said that youd need to buy forged internals to make a strong KA-T, implying that it doesnt already come with them. but this thread says that s13s do come with forged internals. can anyone clarify this for me?

This is an old thread, but looking back at it, i noticed that it doesnt include a couple of things, that can mabey be included?

The rear of the S14 also changed in 97, when the switch from Zenki to Kouki was made. The zenki tails were slightly bubbled, and had a little "valley" in the middle, and the nissan emblem was chrome. The kouki tails were flat, had the litle steps, were slightley blacked, and had a black nissan emblem in the center.

Im not a mod, so i dont have the power to edit the origional post, but ill include a pic of each tail light, so it will be easyer for whoever decides to (if they do) edit the post.

Zenki:

Kouki:

If you want to swap the tails, they are a direct replacment, and can be done without having to fabricate anything, or replace anything (besides the tails )

Also, on the S13, a common thing done (but not too common, because they are usually in the $500 area) is to swap the zenki/chuki tails, to the kouki tails. They were only offered in japan, as the U.S. never saw the kouki S13 Hatch.

Zenki/Chuki Tails:

Kouki Tails:

Also, one last thing. Mabey sombody can include the code in the S13 section? You know, the code how if you say like RPS13

R = hatch, M = KA, P = SR, etc?

I dont know the whole breakdown, but i know somebody has it in their sig.

Im also pretty sure (but could be wrong), that in TS13, T = coupe?

Also, there should be a better example of the Silvia front on the S13 coupe, as well as the S15 front on a hatch.

heres my examples:

S13.5 hatch:

S13 coupe, silvia front end:

and also, heres a more clear example of a sileighty:

by the body style, headlights, tailights and also that s14s didnt come in a hatch version, and that for the s13 coupes and hatch they all had pop up headlights from the factory. s14s in there first and 2nd year came with rounder headlights and the last gen s14s 97-98 came with more agressive style. headlights.

Im new.

I drive a 91' Nissan 240sx hatchback.

I dont have any awesome racing stories, and I dont drift or have an sr20det engine under the hood.

But I love my car more than anything.

I absolutely love this forum. Ive been going through and reading all of the posts and looking at your pictures for hours.

This site mesmerizes me =]
