G35 Sedan or G37 Coupe, G means Go…Fast!
With the addition of the exciting 2008 G37 Coupe and the ongoing evolution of the G35 Sedan, Infiniti has a dynamic duo of sport rides.
The G35 is Infiniti’s best selling model. A four-door sport sedan, the G35 comes in four trim levels: Base, Journey, G35x (all-wheel drive) and Sport. The Sport package is new for 2008 and will offer a different front facia and side sills with an optional trunk-lid spoiler. There have been minor changes in the Technology and Navigation packages and XM Satellite Radio is now wired into each model.
The G35’s 3.5-liter V6 engine develops 300 horsepower with your choice of a six-speed manual or a five-speed automatic with a manual mode, Downshift Rev-Matching and magnesium, steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. With rear-wheel drive, balanced weight distribution and plenty of power, the G35 is a real go-getter. The G35 comes with 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels. The Sport trim level steps up to 18-inch rims. Dual exhaust is standard.
The G35 Sport with the optional Four-Wheel Active Steer (4WAS) feature is the hot handling setup. Infiniti’s 4WAS system steers the rear wheels in the opposite direction of the front pair at moderate speeds for maneuverability and in the same direction at highway speeds for quick, stable lane changing.
The new G37 Coupe turns heads with its sleek lines and elegant styling. One look, and you know this car is fast and fun. The G37 comes in three varieties: Coupe, Journey, and Sport 6MT. Each is powered by a brand-new 3.7 liter DOHC VVEL V6 engine that makes 330 horsepower and 270 lb/ft of torque, a 30-horsepower advantage over the G35. Dual intake and exhaust systems and rear-wheel drive configuration ensure this is a coupe with serious credentials. A five-speed automatic transmission with Adaptive Shift Control and manual shift mode with Downshift Rev Matching can be had on the Coupe and Journey trim levels while the Sport 6MT features a close-ratio six-speed manual transmission with short-throw shifter. With a low .30 coefficient of drag, aluminum wave hood and zero-lift front aerodynamics, the G37 slices through the air swiftly and silently.
The G37 mimics the fine interior design and décor of the G35 sedan. You’ll find finished aluminum interior trim, a leather-trimmed eight-way power driver’s seat, Fine Vision electroluminescent instrumentation, automatic temperature control and a hand-stitched leather-wrapped steering wheel. The G37 incorporates the latest technology as well with an Infiniti Intelligent Key with push-button ignition, a vehicle information system with seven-inch color monitor and a six-speaker audio system with AM/FM, Radio Data System (RDS), CD player and MP3 playback. XM Satellite Radio comes standard and so does an auxiliary audio input jack for your iPod.
The G35 Sport 6MT is a serious performance machine, equipped for tricks on and off the track. There’s a viscous limited-slip differential, sport-tuned suspension, 14-inch front and 13.8-inch rear brakes (four-piston front and two-piston rear brake calipers), 19-inch wheels and tires and a traditional hand-pull parking brake. HID bi-xenon headlights light the way. Options include a selection of high-end audio/visual systems, navigation, a rear-view camera, intelligent cruise control, adaptive front lighting and the Infiniti Four-Wheel Active Steer Package.
Safety features for both the G35 and G37 include dual-stage front airbags, side-impact airbags for both front seats and side curtain airbags that cover the front and rear side windows in a side impact. The front seats feature active head restraints. Active safety systems for both cars include antilock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist, an electronic stability system and a tire pressure monitoring system.
The Infiniti G cars—G35 Sedan and G37 Coupe—are two of the most appealing cars in their respective classes. Few of their rivals can match the Infiniti combination of performance and luxury. If you like to drive and win, either one of these high performers will make you look good…very good.
