Does anyone use the hks pfc fcon system? If so, are you running a fcd with it? And before you bash me about not using standalone, which in hindsight I probably should have done, let me just say; "I peed my bed and now I must sleep in it." Okay, assuming you've gotten this far, how does the fcd attach itself to the pfc fcon harness?

Thanks, peoples!

Wow! where did you come across one of those? that's ooooooooooold school. Do you know if the chip in it is off the shelf or reflashed? I have a vintage HKS catalog in the lab, give me the number on the sticker on the E-prom and I can tell you what base setup the original HKS settings are for.I have the instructions copied somewhere, I'll try to find them and get you the 411. I think I still have an FCD too if you want it.

Yeah, I was afraid I was gonna get hated on hardcore, I'm glad somebody knows the truth, or my version of it! I'll email you details.

I am not one who subscribes to that school of thought so don't worry. The old stuff worked back then, it still works now. Old gear was built tough, my late 80's Trust turbo timer has 12-gauge leads and a steel case and still works to this day! You shoul see peoples reactions when I say things like "I prefer manual boost controllers". I think it might be an ego defense. I am old and I still work!

You've got my vote on the HKS unit, especially for that kinda money. I'da jumped on it too! I think TMS is going to be able to help you better than anyone else on the boards with that thing...

I checked my old HKS catalog and pulled out my instruction copies. The F-CON chip numbers are as follows;

E683 = full normal engineE684 = "F/T" and intercooler (I think "F/T" means full turbine kit which for the HKS kit was a T04E .50 trim with a .48 A/R exhuast housing)E686 = T3 turbine (I could find no T3 type turbo listed fot the CA from HKS)E683V = Normal engine with a Vein Pressure Converter.

All chips indicate the FCD needs to be used. All my instructions are in Japanese so I will have to ask my fiance to translate them for me this weekend. I'll get back with the wiring then.

Ok crazy, here is what I got. I think I am missing the vehicle-specific wiring instructions so I augmented that with my FSM and SAFC wiring instructions.

First. I am not sure you need to use the pressure sensor. My Toyota F-Con harness is wired for one but my Nissan one is not.

The rotary switch inside the unit is an enrichment knob. If you have a setting recommended in your instructions for the CA18DET use that to start otherwise leave it where it is now. If you are running lean turn it up a number, rich, down. I assume it just jacks values up across the whole map.

Wiring the FCD. If you are not bouncing off the boost cut it is not needed but if you are here is what you need to wire it up.

red (R) =powerblack (B) =groundwhite (W) =signal from AFMyellow (Y) =modified AFM signal to computer

Again I used the recommended wiring points from the SAFC instructions, they work for that, they should work for this. This is looking at the computer not at the leading end of the harness. This is something to be careful of, the 16-pin cluster should be to the left as you look at it.

********I**********I I*****BY***I******************I**********I I**********I********R*

Cut the AFM wire and route the signal through the FCD into the computer. Dial up the FCD if you are hitting boost cut and you know you can support a higher level.

That's about it.

Thanks! I'll give it a try.
