So guys..... As summer is just around the bend, I have (and I know there's not alotta of us that want to do this but) some drag racing is going to been in order for at least my schedule. The task.... to beat my buddies 06 GTO with it's massive 6.0 LS2...... Don't laugh because I'm thinking it's not going to be easy but very do-able. So first off we live in CO where you have to tune for altitude, that being said we all run a second slower then # sea level like a lot of you. So across the board I've seen on average the GTO runs 13's at sea level so 14's up here. (think 3,700+ pounds but 400 hp/tq) plus his is an auto, which is good for him because it's easy to just mash the pedal and go.
So last year I ran into a guy who had a similar setup to me but had the SR instead, did not tell me he modified anything other then the injectors, and a slightly larger turbo, and some nice stickies w/lsd. Well dude was running 12.9's and 13's allllllllll day long. So I figure if I follow the same route should I see some similar numbers???? First off we have like a 1,000 pounds weight difference which is epic, high rev's and for a larger powerband, and the ability to make some good hp, which as most of us know you want higher hp not tq in drag racing.... So some opinions on that fastest way to get me into the low 13's w/out braking the bank would be much appreciated. Some things I am going to be upgrading anyways: Turbo, aside from the gt28rs any other suggestions? I'm going to be running a greddy emanage blue for larger injectors and possibly trying to run it with a map type setup. Need a new clutch/flywheel, anyone have any ideas? was thinking about going w/Spec all around. I'm currently running a vlsd, but might be thinking about going w/a kaaz 1.5 way. And what kinda tires should I run??? Was thinking A048's???? Let me know guys! Thanks :dblthumb:

a friend of mine has a gto with an ls1 5.7. his has long tube headers, full 2 3/4 exhaust, cold air with F.A.S.T. 100mm throttle body and intake manifold, 52lb/hr MSD injectors and its been tuned. my CA had an sr t25 on 16psi using an HKS evc6 boost controller setup w/ boost by gear (wastegate in 1st, 11psi in 2ed and full 16 from 3ed up with the offset boost at 140% for a 19psi spike and a good torque jump for 3ed gear and up), 3" exhaust and FMIC, j30 vlsd and BFG Gforce sport 225-50-15 and I pulled him 4 times back to back one night where all race. you could deff do it bro. my turbo hit 19psi REALLY QUICK but then fell back to 16psi by about 5500rpm and held to redline. it hated me but it did it regardless.

btw, heres a setup you should try. youll prob love it too. unless youre going with a big nasty t3/t4 or 20G i think (my persoanl opinion) its pointless not to. try a tried and true method for power, run the s15 t28 (2860 or 2871 if you want a little more) a set of 550cc injectors, Z32tt maf and a Jim Wolf Technology rom tune ecu. with the s15 28 thats an easy 280-290whp setup that will rip so hard your g/f will feel it at home. the 2871 will be a little laggier but will have more top end with a much harder torque surge when it comes on song and will do 360-370ish-whp. theyre nasty. if your on a wicked tight budget tho go to forecedperformance.com and pick up a td05-20g. theyre about $550, youll find them in the Mitsubishi turbo selection. theyll malke some retarded power as well

Heres what you do:

Strip everything out of your car. Spare tire, seats, jack, hula girl, the works.

Buy one (1) set of hoosier drag slicks.

Put slicks on car.

Win.

Hoosier slicks allowed one of our local rb20's to run an STi. If I'm lyin' I'm dyin'.

And he lost his clutch that night too lol.

Yeah sounds good, I was leaning toward the gt28, so grab that, and some 550's, bribe Jim Wolf to swap my ca for a vr38 lol and I'd be set jk jk, but yeah no jwt sounds like a good idea. I need a clutch pretty freakin horribly at the moment, mine is slippppn baaaaad. So I think I will do the clutch/flywheel 1st, then injectors, jwt, then turbo and be on my way to GTO spankin! :naughty: (I'll throw on some slicks too, but I really need some wheels and a 5 lug conversion for some goodness 1st). I'm running 17 by 9"s right now I'm thinking maybe 17 by 12's would be a better start lol, ok maybe not that wide, but something a lil more beefy then I have. Yeah if I rock his GTO I just kinda want to say ohhhh you got beat by a 1.8L turbo that cost $32,000 less lol :chuckle:

stay 4 lug, save chollaz, xxr 16x8's, 225-45-16 nitto NT05's for above stated straightline activities. t28 with 550's z32 maf and jwt rom tune will have all opposition screaming "MONICAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" as for clutch i love the ACT extreme 6 puck disc with the heavy duty pressure plate. its my clutch of choice. modest engagement, pedal not to stiff and grabs/holds like hell!

I've decided on a clutch/flywheel combo and it is not cheap, I'm going Ogura/ORC single disc..... It's some goodness, not as much as I wanted to spend, but when it's something that's got to get beat, and last.... Better to pay now and have some good $%!T then to end up buying something that comes apart after a few burn outs. I was thinking about ACT or Spec and both would be awesome, but figured I might be one of the first peeps in the US to try out the Ogura. :naughty:
Anyone ever fitted up the S15 6 speed to a CA????

s15 6spd is garbage. ever heard the joke "add a boost controller and lose a trans". same gear case but has one more gear in it, ever wonder how they cram that other gear in there? they make everything smaller. im not impressed with Ogura, i destroyed one in the owner of a local shop Dustin's rb25 s13. its a stock rb25 with an hks evc6 boost controller. me and him put an ACT in it, no problems. I have his number too if anyone has any doubt. I blew out the whole center spline in the disk, completely broke from the entire structure of the disk. stay ca trans or go rb25 trans. im buying a 25 trans and hacking one of my fragged ca trans for the flange then taking the input shaft in the machine shop with me to machine down the pilot end of the shaft to fit. ill save all the info, take pics and make a thread on here when i do it.

I was just kinda curious about the 6 speed maybe for some mile runs to see what mph I could top out with(with the addition of a sld). Question about the Ogura, was it old? Was it properly broken in? Idk, the one I was going for is rated for 480ps, and comes with a chromoly flywheel. Looks pretty tough to me. I know ACT and Spec clutches are proven, but then again so are Ogura, there's a reason why there are a lot of people that use them in racing/drift applications. Idk maybe something weird happened. I've seen 1,000+ HP Supras using Ogura's (3/4 plates) with no issues, just some engagement issue's when breaking them in. So I guess i'm going to guinea pig it and find out. Hopefully I won't run into any issues. I'd like to do an Ikeya formula sequential shifter lol, wonder if anyone here has ever used one. Would be pretty cool though.

yeah, I owner dustin installed for my grandma I think cause I kno know how the previous owner drove it. He ended up trading it for dustins q45, we went out one night just playing in it and getting sideways, 2000+mi on the clutch by this time, and I fragged it. I wouldnt worry about top end, 6spd or 5spd youll be about the same, want more top end, use a q45 vlsd and z32 axles with swapped ends, there you go. gears as long as 25 to life

Nice man, yeah I will have to do the q45 with the 32 axles sounds like a good combo. I know right now highway driving makes my ca sound like it's about to throw a piston through the head when I hit 80. I need a little more top end lol.
