So check this out.I just got back from school and now its time to replace the distributer. I replaced it but now the engine does not start at all. no putter nothing. I'm almost positive i installed it right. This is what I did. Find No. 1 TDCremove cap n rotormark bolt holesremove distributer and install newlined the rotor up so it was pointing at no.1 on the capline up top bolt loop exactly like the oldreplace cap n rotorreinstall spark plug and wires and coil wirereinstall cas and Mafcrank the car and tha sum biscuit wont fire.check for fuel and if I take no. 1 plug out and crank, smell fuel. so thats gotta be good. check spark and it's kinda weak. I can barely see the spark on the valve cover when I ground it out. Got brand new NGKs and now this is where I'm at. Still a weak spark, still no start. I'm tempted to rip the cover off and time it by looking at the cams. What would you guys do? Where do i start now? New Grounds? How can I fashion up some new ones w speaker wire from my system? I need to drive b4 I go insane. Plz help and thanks for your time

Try playing with the timing

how if I cannot start the car? keep finding TDC and moving the teeth? Or do you think I should take the cover off and look at the cams? The car ran fine before this just had and intermittent stall prolly caused by the CAS or cam sensor.

The stalling should be checked with MAFS and other things.

Your distributor is 180 degrees off. Your TDC is TDC but EXHAUST TDC. You need it on Compression Stroke TDC.I had the same problem and end up breaking the cap and rotor instead of getting Compression TDC.

so i took the valve cover off and timed it by looking at the cam positions and definetly it's right. it sounded better turning over like it wants to start but just wont fire. checked resistance in the spark wires and they are..#1 6 ohms#2 6 ohms#3 6 ohms#4 7 ohmscoil wire 5.35 ohmstested power with the key on to the coil, 0.01v-don't know if thats rightwhen i timed it by looking at the cams it was on compression the cams were at 9 and 3 oclock and the piston was to the top and I put the distributer in with the rotor facing no.1 pole on the cap. when you crank it you can smell the fuel when the plugs are out so that is good. You need....compressiono2fuelintakespark to start your engine right? Has fuel, seemingly weak spark, o2 i don't know how to test and definetly has compression. I have to be missing something.Has new cap n rotor, blaster ss coil from msd, power transistor, plugs, and brand new distributer. What am i missing? what can I test and how do i test it?Why wont it just start dammit?! IT RAN BEFORE I CHANGED THE DISTRIBUTER!!!!!PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD HELP ME SOMEONE!!!P.S. I'm in wisconsin were it is humid as hell. if that helps

This is a simple problem. Look at what you did. Took out the distributor and replaced it with a new one. It can't be anything else but your distributor timing. You are probably a tooth or 2 off. Go download a FSM or search to find out how to properlally set your distributor in.

Any ideas where to find this info i really did search for like 3 hours and you have to pay to get manuals. Anything free? P.S. I am correct by the cam should be at 9 and 3:00 right? Intake 3/exhaust 9 piston at the top, thats when i installed it with the rotor facing the no. 1 poll on the cap.
