Argh! :(

Reminds me of a Viper accident I saw the aftermath of ... guy entered a highway ramp and lost it accelerating on the on-ramp. Just kept bouncing between both side guard-rails (based on the tire marks I saw) and ended up flipping the car at the end of the on-ramp ... onto the highway. Was apparently drunk, but I am not sure of this.

Some people don't deserve to be allowed behind the wheel of these high-powered cars. :tisk:

Hardly surprising this idiot ruined his hellcat, as only a small percentage of buyers of this type of vehicle have been trained to drive them correctly. I'll be amused to see video of hellcat owner's shocked looks when they see how much those rear tires cost to replace after spending doing a few burnouts.

Honestly, not surprising for reasons Bubba already pointed out. Kinda like that GTR that plowed through the front of a bank because the driver said it accelerated too quickly for him to control.

additionally. I believe Hellcats come from the factory with Summer performance tires. If that's the case, this happened in December in Colorado. Temps were in the 30's ? So Cold tires + big hp+ naiive enthusiastic driver, who then drives it hard as he leaves the dealership is an accident waiting to happen. This probably won't be the last hellcat owner to crash like this.

My friend has a Hellcat on order. Long before this incident happened, he had told me he's trailering his cat home if the temps are cold.

Not as much as you might think, for a vehicle sporting over 700hp I think the OEM tire should be a little meatier profile than 275. The 1LE trimmed Camaro that has me poised to move away from the hamburger has nearly 300 fewer horses but runs 285s, and my Z that has 400 fewer runs 245 in the rear. WTF Dodge?!?!! Please don't tell me you borrowed a page from the BRZ/FRS twins and wanted to make it easier to slide the rear end around.

Another thing, if this buyer (I hesitate to use the term "driver") just picked the car up an hour or so before he didn't even have all 700 horses on tap, even with the red key in his pocket. There's a 500 mile break-in period that locks it down to the black key limit of 500hp.

This too in spades! I ragged on a Porsche driver back in November 2013 when I was at my tire shop getting some new Michelin AS3 tires mounted on my Z and he was picking up his Boxster with some freshly mounted rubber, some off-brand (for me that's any non Bridgestone, Conti or Michelin) summer tire. He was bitching about price and I unleashed on him about Porsche price of ownership and then went on my sub 40 degree tire grip spiel at which point he said we don't get much snow and "he'd be careful." Fast forward to this year, stopped by to store my summers (love my tire guys for this) and one of the guys there said he's now running some all-seasons, apparently he had a few mishaps last winter. Imagine that.

Just looked at Tire Rack. It appears the Hellcat comes equipped with OEM Pirelli P Zero Nero all seasons, and you're spot on. They are $246 each to replace. That ain't bad. The summer tire version is $429. So it now sounds like he had the right tires on the car, but he drove it too hard before the tires and his brain had a chance to warm up. Oh well.
