Thanks to this brilliant forum i have saved my beautiful low mileage vh45de from destruction.I had the chain guides done yesterday and was relieved to see the old ones were still in one piece(although starting to crack)I hadnt really driven my Q since i bought it because i was saving for the guide job , and when i did drive i tried to keep below 3000rpm. It was great to unleash Big thanks to Joe for getting me all the parts to Australia so quickly ,awesome service mate

BTW i think i got a good price on labour, cost $700 aud(approx $510 U.S)with fresh spark plugs as well.

That is an excellent deal on labor, and I'm glad that you got them done! It's interesting to note that your guides were cracked at approximately 50K Miles, while mine were in mint condition when T3 replaced them at 47K.

It just illustrates what we've been saying here for years about not being able to predict when those plastic guides will fail.

You should post up some pictures of your Q!

Heath

Great news, VH! I hope your example will convince other new members it is the only thing to do for safety and longevity.

Is it an Sutralian Q45 or a JDM import? It would be interesting if there is a difference.

Would be a JDM import, as we didn't get them here from dealers till '94.

I always liked those early forged wheels. They are unique.

The HICA's (fat 5's, as I call them) are Wes' favorites .

I don't imagine they're any lighter or stronger than BBS, but I think they're meaner looking.

On this monitor, it looks purple. That would be a rare color.

Anthracite gray is the official name of the color. I've got it too. Looks purple to me but can also look gray depending on the time of day.

What about the interior? Mine is (light) gray but it sure looks like a shade of tan to me. Nice looking Q you've got there.

Here's a chromed with gold center caps version of your rims from a Q that I parted out. They looked nice.

Go Aussie!

Thanks for your concern guys. I disappeared as I felt I had too little to contribute. My interests changed to other areas and the Q45 got put into retirement. I moved state to acerage in QLD where the Q54 was out of its comfort zone. Ride on mowers, Tractors, Excavators, Quad bikes etc were more suited to where we've moved and have taken up a lot of my attention. Most of it has been on the 9 grandkids I've been given and the running of our new business.

We still have the Q45 and am now trying to get it running properly again. Seems age may have effected the driveability so I'll be asking for some help. All my books are still boxed when we moved 9 years ago.... (yeah I know, quick movers).
Feel free to ask questions. Just don't expect an instant reply :)

Cheers

Well, now all we need is an update from Dennis.

I was wondering about 911 Q45 the other day. He was from San Luis Obispo.

Still miss Tangalora's incredibly well documented technical articles all before the YouTube era.
