Ok so i figured out that i was not getting feedback from my computer becuse i didnt have the clock and radio hooked up and they are all wired together???

however, i took it back through and it still didnt pass, came back saying EGR not ready EVAP not ready and CAT not ready.I figured out that it is a problem with 1996 maximas, according to these sites > http://www.automotiveforums.co....html and http://www.lyberty.com/car/maxima_tsb.html

please let me know what you think i should do. Should I contact the dealer? do you think its a recall?any help would be greatly appreciated!

First off, welcome aboard.

Secondly, I would start with following the guide of the "lyberty" link. Did you just buy this vehicle or have you had it for some time? The dealership will work on what needs to be fixed, but you are out of the Fed emission coverage and the dealer would only be respinsible if they sold you the car. It would pretty much be an out-of-pocket deal. If you can find a reputable Nissan repair shop in your area, you may start there. I had a guy who became obsessed with getting my CEL off, since it was a learning process for him too, he pretty much didn't charge me for more time to fix the problem.--Mike
