That never required them to purchase a product or service from a private company - It was provided as part of their commission.

And to this day, our Armed Forces continue to receive Federally-subsidized medical care (which I agree with).

You had it 3/4 right.
Plus we're Federal employees and work for our provided healthcare.

Which sucks, BTW.

The Tenth Amendment is one of my favorites... one days, it's power is going to be flexed.

For the amount of $ that goes towards it, and the deservedness of its recipients, it should be the best care available.

Can't wait. I'm ready - When do we storm the gates?

Except it's tied into a monstrous bureaucracy. Find me a supporter of government-run healthcare and I'll show you someone who hasn't had to make use of it.

You lose.

After two major knee surgeries and the birth of his first child, my son is very happy with the care he and his family have received at Tyndall AFB in Florida. He also believes that there should be some type of floor level coverage provided for those who truly need it but can't get it from the private sector.

He recognizes that not all out-of-work, private-coverage-denied people are there because they are moochers or playing the system. Many of them are there through no real fault of their own, their companies throwing them out of work and private healthcare denying them or pricing care out of their reach.

In the grand scheme of things it's not a large number, but something should be done for those people.

Good for him. Millions of Veterans haven't had that experience, my Dad being one of them.

One person, even a son, is hardly a sufficient statistical significance to denote a "you lose".

I agree - I'm *very close* to BEING one of "those people".

The fact that I *STILL* oppose this legislation, even though it would benefit me immensely in the short term, should tell you something.

The solution to those "unable to afford" private healthcare already exists: the HSA.

Of course, it was the Great Satan's idea and thus is vastly inferior to the Savior's.

AZ- you know I don't like this bill either. The "You lose" comes from the quote, "Find me a supporter of government-run healthcare and I'll show you someone who hasn't had to make use of it." I found him one.

The world is not run in absolutes but unfortunately too many people think that way.

Gotcha. Makes sense.

I'm still waiting for my premiums to go down... or was I lied to?

This administration is a bigger joke than GWB's ever was. We're seeing the kind of zealotry out of Pelosi & Co. that the lefties have always accused the far Right of.

They're dangerous in their arrogance.

Good idea? Yes. Solution? No.

If you don't have enough money now, you're not going to magically have more money.
