First off , Id like to say thank you all for the advice and guidance with us less knowledgeable Q45 owners, I've never felt spoken down to nor belittled. Ive always gotten answers and given guidance when needed , i'm sure i speak for alot of people when i say thanks, That being said, i have a few questions 94 q45 157k miles. Will a fuel pump from a 95 q45 work in a 94? second where can i find a blown up view of the revolution sensor? and is that a job that a friend (mechanic) and I (non mechanic ) could accomplish? right now transmission shifts hard into 2nd gear and AT diagnostic comes up code ! revolution sensor , has a rough idle and starting off its sluggish , think every now and then i hear that whining sound from fuel pump . i cleaned MAF as well as throttle body and added bg44k to a full tank of 91 octane (chevron). any ideas on where to go next ? and answers for my questions? thanks for you time and assistance

Sorry to sound impatient but we've hand fed you the answer to your questions at least a couple of times. Find a reliable computer, go to the transmission section (AT) of the FSM, read through the ohm testing procedure for the sensors, blow up the pictures in the FSM that show the locations of the sensors so you know where they're at, jack up the car real high and crawl under there with your mechanic friend and unbolt and replace the sensor.

Here's the diagnosis since you couldn't read the FSM on your computer:

The links that our Moderator provided explain it all in detail:

guess i shouldnt have said thank you , this was the kind of response i expected intiallly,. i have downloaded and printed the fsm and was just looking for a possible blown up view with more details and i have been asking questions as i have gone thru the process and completed tasks but at some points i've had questions where i've gotten stuck or didnt understand something, i'll go back to figuring it out on my own , thanks for all the help and remember you probably had questions at some point in your life as well. , i just don't want to screw up my car as i've grown to love this car and intend on keeping it for a long time and fixing it up as best i can , and staying with the infiniti family for future vehicles

Bprov40 Whatever your real name is?....

We are not here to spoon feed you. Some have gotten tired of reposting things that have already been covered. I would take a screenshot of the service manual where the info is listed. But thats too much work for me. Mike is one of the nicest guys on here. To get offended so easily at his post tells me you're too soft.

Go here: http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/Q45/1994_Q45/at.pdf

Then go to page: AT-107, AT-34-35

If you have a two post or even a four post lift and a transmission jack the job can be done. And trust me few people keep these cars. Once you fully realize how much time and money it costs to keep these cars running you will sell it. I hope you have a Q45 in great shape and I am not talking about the interior and exterior!

It's not unheard of for that sensor to fail - but it's pretty rare. That's probably why no one (at least to my knowledge) has created a write-up.

Either way, I suspect it's very "do-able" if Infiniti lists it as possible to service it on the car. When it doubt their instructions always start with "using a suitable lift, remove engine from car" or something to that effect. I would check the connections to the sensor first, just to make sure it's plugged in correctly and that there's no corrosion on them... then replace the sensor if everything looks good. The A/T check diagnosis is probably correct. I know that it was when the turbine revolution sensor (much more difficult to replace) went bad on my old Q.

taking a shot at the screenname? really? why offer advice when your going to talk down on someone , if you or he felt i was asking them same question over and over then , simply dont respond to it, after i asked about the first issues is when i started the process with MAF, Throttle body cleaning etc.. to start on the idle and power issues then it was time to tackle the revolution sensor and all i wanted was possibly a location as to where i could get a blown up view of where the sensor was cause even blowing up the view on the FSM it didnt give more details of what i was looking for. AND after hearing a few suggestions i was questioning whether i should attempt it on my own or go to a professional, theres the reasoning for the question. i will keep my q45 and i will fix it up and not sell it i want to say thank you to heath for being a much better representation of an infiniti guy. my friend and i were able to test the rev sensor and it was shot. i will be ordering a new sensor and replacing it. In my opinion a soft person is one who has to mask his insecurities by making others look inferior , I came here with my head held high and learned alot and walk away knowing i feel good about myself because i learned something and accomplished something. what did you accomplish ? making someone look inferior? your parents would be proud :dblthumb:

Just so you know... the Q forum has always had two schools of thought that causes these situations. We might as well call it the "no spoon feeding crowd" vs. the "let's make this easy crowd"

Some of it goes back to the fact that these were high-end and expensive cars for their time, and there has always been a little bit of a snob factor involved.

In any case, please don't take it personally. It's been going on for a long time...

Heath
