Just wanted to let you guys know the Q ran effortlessly and flawlessly to Florida and back this weekend.

Just one concern, I noticed years ago and also this weekend that my a/c freezes up on long trips. I had tweeked the expansion valve on my old 84 Volvo 242GLT and had to watch it, but have not touched the a/c on this car.

I noticed the service valve next to the p/s firewall (looks like a small dryer) turns into a block of ice and the cooling effect decreases to about 65-70 deg. out of the vents( normal is 40-50). Anyone know what this is due to?

I have to go back to pick up my kids in 3 wks and look forward to my wife saying "Eat their lunch!" again. I had forgotten how great it felt to drive a smooth running Q on the highway.

I avg about 19 mpg going, but a fillup in Tallahassee only got about 16. I wonder if their gas is that bad now. This was the first time their gas(e. of Mississippi r.) was cheaper. I also noticed it increased again once I made it to Miss. made it back home with 3/4 of a tank.

Anyway, thanks to Dennis, Heath, Mike, Wes, Brian and anyone else I may have forgotten to mention who have helped me on my quest to be thrilled again! I owe you guys more than a debt of gratitude.

Now on to the next challenge - exhaust fumes with the windows down

If you put ethanol in, let us know how well the injectors hold up. At least the 90-93 Qs have many injector issues that seem to stem from ethanol. Also, I've advanced my base timing to 18* in my 93 Q (stock is 15*) and it runs great. I picked up probably 3mpg, which certainly helps when comparing 20mpg to 23mpg. I also have had no problem with putting in 87 octane when I'm just cruising. I know what it feels like to have retarded timing due to bad knock sensors and it doesn't feel like it takes out timing with the lower octane.

Time to check your R134a level.

I would suggest an evacuation, drier replacement, and a refill with exact amount of proper lubricant. Take it to a professional full time automotive AC shop with you manual and parts.
