So I've searched. Apparently I'm not very observant as I can't seem to locate a walkthrough on how to begin installing a turbo set up on my ka24de. So there you have it. Textbook noob question.

Just need a link ,Jareth

Step 1, Remove Stock exhaust heat shield & disconnect O2 sensor & EGR pipe. Remove manifold, gasket and exhaust piping from engine using 14mm socket/wrench.(Ibelieve)

Step 2, Replace stock manifold & gasket with turbo manifold & new gasket. depending on top or bottom mount setup, you may need to have the turbo on the manifold. Do not forget gasket. (Extra hands and people optional)

Step 3, Bolt on downpipe and gasket.

Step 4, Make sure everything clears and fits properly.step back and look at how you now have a turbo on your KA24DE.

you could be more specific and get more specific answers. I just went at it and threw it on.

Just make sure you read through the FAQ at the top of this forum, as well as the 'what my KA can handle in stock form' sticky. It will answer pretty much everything you need to know. The rest will be learned by getting your hands dirty. Most of it is pretty basic stuff, and is installed exactly how you would imagine it would be.

Really? Thats it? What do I do about tuning? Are there stock components that I need to remove? Are there other components that I need to add or modify? Not trying to be a pest but that seems . . . too simple. Thanks a lot though.

I think he answered what you asked: how to start a turbo install. Pretty much, that was just getting the turbo bolted on. Not that I have intimate knowledge of the subject matter, but I know at least the following still has to be done:

- turbo plumbing (intake & filter, intercooler if one is being used, BOV if one is being used, piping to throttle body)- vacuum lines- oil send/return- coolant send/return (if water-cooled)

Even at relatively low boost settings (below 5 or 6 psi), these might be needed as well:- colder range spark plugs- larger injectors- higher capacity fuel pump

There are probably others, but those are the most basic things I could think of. Were you looking for information on how to start installing a turbo, or a comprehensive step-by-step guide to installing and tuning a turbo setup, start to finish?

Read this all the way through, after that you can ask questions. But you must get the basics down first before we can help you.

Hey WD, read your post before and like four times after that. Actually it's the only post thats even touched on the questions I have. I guess the project just seems a bit overwhelming. I'm rebuilding the motor but trying to keep everything within stock specifications. So aside from machine work I'll be replacing the valve train, valves, pistons, rings, and all the bearings in the bottom end. Now after that I have a MILLION questions. As far as the turbo setup is concerned all I have so far is a tubular manifold and t25 turbo. I would have more but I need to know where to start shopping I guess. Do I need a different headgasket? Should I go with ARP studs or is that no big deal? Will 370cc injectors be enough or do I need to get an upgraded fuel system? My goal for the car is to be a smooth riding stock feeling car with power when I want it. I have stock struts on eibach springs and slotted drilled brembos so I think with some strut stabilizers and if I do the engine right it will feel like a boosted ka came in the car and not so much like a backyard mod job. Super props on that post though

Your best bet is to skip the T25 turbo unless you want to spend $1200 for a GT spec unit. I'd recommend buying the basic turbo kit from JGS. COmes with the manifold, oil lines, turbo and downpipe. After that you'll need fuel and ignition. Your best bet there is to use an Emanage rom tune. He'll build you a custom tune for whatever size injector you have. Basically you email him, tell him what you have and then send him your ECU. He mods the factory ecu for you and then add's a burned chip that controls timing and fuel. I'd say go with 550cc or 50lb injectors because why bother going small? After that you'll need a 255lph fuel pump and I'd get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. To make life easier I'd upgrade to a top mount fuel rail which will allow you to run injectors that don't suck. Sidefeed's are crap...period. I dunno why Nissan uses them...

Oh, after you have all that sorted, you'll obviously need a FMIC and piping. I'd get a nice kit from Ebay. They are cheap, but they work great. Then some type of BOV that is vented back to the intake. Open atmosphere bovs are prone to issues with stalling.

That should cover it man.

Cool dude, let me look into all that stuff and I'll ask if anymore questions arise. Oh the manifold that I have (I was told) can bolt to a t25 or a t28. If I'm not mistaken the major difference between the two is that the t28 has a ballbearing impeller making it spool faster. The turbo is brand new. Still has the caps on it. Should I sell it and try to get a t28? And are there bolt on top mount injector kits or do I need to modify my fuel rail?
