Is there any way to test if my MAF is bad?

a while back, maybe like a year ago, i had my motor and all running good. then i put 550 injectors in along with an enthalpy ecu and the z32 maf. i remember i couldn't keep the car running after those three were installed. it would start, immediately idle up to 2K rpm and die no matter what all within about 5 seconds. i've been lost ever since and the car has been sadly collecting dust in the garage for a long time. fuel pressure was at about 40 something if i remember...

i'm in fernley right now...pretty close to reno. it would die no matter what, from what i could remember. the gas is really old too, that may be a contributing factor...i don't know.

now it's got flat tires and it's wedged in to the garage amongst a bunch of junk. i don't know if i should just get rid of this car or what. i'd really like to make it run, whether it's turboed or not.

i wish there was a good shop familiar with 240s and turbo setups that i could just drop it off at and have them sort it all out...lol

If the car will run, you get the engine warm. Then you check voltage from the signal out to the ground. It should be about .6v at idle (about 1v at 1500rpm), if not, it's bad.

Other than that, no, there isn't. Unfortunately, you just can't do a test using continuity.

hmmmm.. dont get rid of it!! if you do let me know.. Their is a really good shop in reno.. not to familiar with 240s but really good. One of the mechanics their helped me with my custom turbo set up and im sure they can figure out why your car wont start in a jiffy. One way that might test if its bad if you dont have a meter is to unplug your MAF then start it.. i know with my MAF unplugged their is no way it will hit 2000. Also i heard that the Z32 MAF does not work to well on an KA with no turbo. do not know if its true but thats what i heard... maybe your ECU? do you still have your stock one??

Don't get rid of what, my car? I really need to change my sig, my engine is actually out of the car getting rebuilt (if my pistons ever arrive, and V2's become available).

Here's the thing, the car will run fine with no MAF. It will just be in limp mode and not rev passed 2500. When my 300ZX (N62) MAF went bad, my car simply wouldn't start.

How difficult would it be to return to a stock ecu and stock injectors? Do you still have the stock MAF?

I remember talking about this forever ago...I'm sorry it hasn't been running yet.
