I saw the tech help section at Q45.org and wanted to be clear on how to test knock sensors on my '94 Q45.

According to the directions, the test leads on the multimeter should look like this:

-probe to +battery terminal+probe to pins shown below:

My question is, which pins should I be testing in that connector, the two X's? [ 1 2 ][ 3 4 ] < subharness going to KS [ 5 6 ]

Testing up to 2000k, I got some weird numbers from pins 4 and 6, 250k and 1,400k. Thanks for the help NicoNauts

You can also check from the center pins to the bottom (white) wires and you should get similar readings. So 4-6 and 3-5 should get you an ohm reading of around 550 ohms. If there is any corrosion or anything preventing a good connection to the pins with your meter your resistance will be off considerably. If they consistently give you readings way off and you are sure your meter is connected good then they are bad.

Try this:

> Ignition off.> Negative probe of voltmeter to battery negative> Positive probe of voltmeter to each pin marked X> Readings should be close to 550k ohms resistance.

FYI- It's the opposite for fuel injector ohming- positive probe of voltmeter to battery positive.

Make sure you aren't checking the ECU side of the plug. Seems obvious but I had to ask...
