Just checking to make sure I can still do this as it has been a long time.

Get back to you guys with some pics of what I got going on. Unfortunately, I will not be able to give you the full preview on this puppy. This engine's compression has went from 150psi across the board to 90 psi across the board. Oh well, I'm on vacation so I'll just build another one and replace it (no time to open it up).

Out with old set-up.

And in with the new.

There is a gracious GOD somewhere in the universe that knows I could use a break. On vacation for the rest of 2012, so it's time to get rid of/sell some stuff, fix some stuff, relax and enjoy my family as well. And btw, it is true ;) .

*See's low compression, adds cap full of ATF to each cylinder, places for sale sign on windshield*

"For sale"???? WE are talking rarety-classic stuff here man. This whole car is heavily fabricated, so the low compression crap means nothing here. And besides, I've been wanting to change the motor because surface rust was on the block and some other stuff and the fact that this wasn't the first time this engine has pulled this stunt. Actually, this is the 3rd time it has done this which means I must effectuate the 3 strike rule which simply says "YOU'RE OUT".

I was kidding about the for sale comment lol. My compression was a little low on my CA from the get go so I just rotated my EVC6 knob clockwise a little and viola, low compression fixed haha.

I knew you were kidding, but I was just going along with the bit ;). This engine is old and the head has given me problems before. Like I stated in previous, this is not the first low compression issue with this particular motor. It doesn't smoke or make mechanical noises, but it does have a slight lopy miss to it. I've been wanting to pulll it and now I have a reason to. I should have it out in about an hour. Later :)

Obviously you've never worked on a FWD CA. Talk about a PITA, lol. Especially if he wants to pull just the motor and leave the trans. (Coming out the top, I would assume?)

@s13drifter88 *Sarcastic bastard* I'm not that easy to turn-on...lol
I did remove the engine from the top with the transmission attached of course. That would be suicide if I attempted to remove the engine and leave the transmission. If this was was an E-series motor, perhaps. But not with the CA18DET installed in the B12's engine bay. However, I did leave the P/S pump, compressor and removed the alternator prior to removing the block. And also took of the front torque strap bracket because that thing likes to poke holes in condensers and mine is a one-off unit, so I can't afford to damage it.

Yeah, you don't seem to get turned on quite as easy as float and TMS do when they get around each other, lol.

I remember I pulled mine from the top without the transmission, but it was a PITA. As I remember I probably had to pull the harmonic balancer to get enough clearance, and I didn't have any accessories on the motor. I remember it took me three days to do my swap. I had to pull a CA16, the CA18 from the donor car, and drop it in the car the CA16 came from. I think that part only took a day and a half, but I did a whole bunch of extra stuff along the way, so it turned into a long three days. Anyways, I think my thing is I just don't like having to pull the axles and drain the transmission, so I just leave it in there. I should probably learn better.

Wow, you kept P/S and A/C? That's what's up! If I ever get to where I can build my monster CA powered Pulsar I'll have to hit you up if I can't figure it out on my own.

Ahhhh, the E-series. What a golden little motor... for anything not performance related that is, lol. Granted I do have a few rare goodies for one if I ever decide to actually build one the way I had intended. It's just so hard to bring myself to ever spend that kind of money on it after seeing how much more a CA can do. And now after having a Honda B-series and seeing it's potential (I know, blasphemy) anything all motor seems pointless other than a Honda (I was planning on a 200hp all motor E16 :chuckle: before I got my CA). Maybe if I ever make money like Rick Nasty (Kyle knows who I'm talking about) I can build all these dream cars I have in mind.

Anyways, my E16 was probably about the easiest thing I've ever worked on. Man, if you guys thought a CA was small you should take a look at an E-series. It'll almost fit in the palm of your hand, lol.
