Testing a distributor

This is my first post here and I am hoping that all of you knowledgeable Nissan people may be able to answer this question. I need to know if there is a way to test the distributor that is in my 97 Hardbody. A little background here, just swapped in a 93 engine that we took all the way down to a long block and put back together with all of the 97 hardware. It ran for three hours and then quit firing. I would like to determine if the distributor took a dump before laying out more money throwing parts at it. Thanks.
