I think he just might have lost the battle with the tree. The steering wheel had a spot where it caved in presumably from the drivers head, and the engine was like 10-15 feet away.

Airbags don't deploy unless it is a front end collision. It would be usless in a side impact.

Did you read down that thread on the VW forum. Someone asks why did they let someone drive it. I don't think I could buy a brand new car w/o driving it. That is alot of $$ to drop on something you might not like. I can understand on a motorcycle a little, but I would still want to drive it.

That's what they get for naming it the R32.

Did the engine fly farther than the bodies?

I would never buy a car without test driving it...

i feel bad for the r32 future owner. i wouldn't pass it off that someone in a different country to buy it and repair it. when i worked for a nissan dealer a few russian guys would buy all the totaled pathfinders.

but for the two in the a3. how fst would a car have to be going for that type of collision to happen? man that car was torn to pieces.

On the 2nd page, the speedometer is stuck on what looks to be 90 km/h, which is about 56 mph.

Pretty sick to even look at the mangled hunk-o-junk afterwards.

i don't think 56mph would cause that much of a damage.
