I got test pipes around 10 months ago, but did not drive my car too much cus i left it at home while i went to college. I just learned from a friend with an 07 G35C that test pipes will mess up your O2 sensors. For his newer G it acutally completely messed up his ECU, one day his car just turned off on the high way and did not start. The thing is with smarter ECU's (i run a 05 G) the chip will read the extra O2 and run leaner due to the excess O2. This is really bad on your gas milage and not good for your engine. So i learned you need to get defoulers for the O2 sensors. Devices that pull out your sensors about 2 inches, basically a spacer that moves the sensors out a little so its not actually getting the full exhaust from your test pipes.

I am going to take out my test pipes probally for good because i have my smog in a few months, BUT i am afraid that my O2 sensors have become too tarnished by the nasty smoke. My friend told me one of his sensors was competely black wen he took them out.

If anyone has any experience with this issue also help! i dont want to pay 400 $ for a new pair of SENSORS!

A really good set of high flow cats is almost as good as test pipes, legal, and don't foul up the o2 sensors.

Thanks a million for the good info. I was once considering adding a test pipe. I guess, this information clearly shows why i shouldn't even try it at all. I have a 2007 G-35 Coupe. And yes, I was adviced to install defoulers if I ever installed a test pipe. Thanks again, for the info.

Have plenty of friends running test pipes and no problems. Even know a couple of G's with test pipes and no issues.

I am running Stillen test pipes with de-foulers and have had no problems for a year and a half or so. I have not looked at my sensors but I am sure they are nasty. I will just clean them up before my next smog. (3 more years) haha. And I get around 20 mpg.

I thought about the stillen high flows... did you notice any gains... other than sound?

I want them bad, just expensive for what it is, before I buy them and risk problems down the road, anyone with dyno proof?

Yes you will not have any trouble with defoulers, But i ran my car without defoulers and with test pipes so did my friend his car's ecu could not handle the excess O2.
