just out of curiosity ( i dont want to hear it from you guys that say dont modify your versa, it will never be fast, etc...) how much do you think a custom made test pipe for our cars would cost, mandrel-bent and sensor bunge also in it. im not familiar with the cost of custom work.

well a test pipe only with a bung should cost no more then $50, even though tech. it is illegal for any shop to remove a working cat on any car....and also anyway why would you even want to do that, you wont gain hardly anything from it, youll lose torque, exhaust smell and for what, 1hp? the cat on the versas work very well and unless you have a intake, header, cat-back and a new tune and or a turbo set up to where the cat is a restriction its worthless to change out. I have seen many times where cat-removal has made the car worse and i will say i have seen it improve, but 99% on turbo cars. Dont do it, if your gonna have something made have them make you a good cat-back exhaust with a new muffler, replace the 2 stock mufflers will get you some good gains. anyway just my .02

You will also throw a code on your computer and have to look at that light on all the time!

Have any of you heard a 4 cylinder engine with a straight-through exhaust? The sound is like nothing else! Especially upon deceleration! He may or may not throw a code, and it sounds like this won't be a permanent installation (the second he gets caught with this thing it will probably be removed!). I would say a professional job will cost you a few hundred dollars (properly bent, with quality clamps and flanges). You can either go all out and do it right, or just chop the exhaust off at the manifold and see what happens. Be sure to install an under-hood fire suppression system if you go exhaust-less.

I really do not recommend this at all, I agree with the folks above. While this is great if you own an older car with less engine management equipment (like an old VW Rabbit or something), I wouldn't do this on anything modern. Also, you WILL void your 8 year unlimited mileage emissions warranty, and possibly other warranties. This will severely reduce the resale value of your car (but once the ladies hear your exhaust... they'll disappear faster than your warranty... so... you might want to reconsider this!) Just do what I did, chop the exhaust off your 1970 Pontiac Tempest (straight-six), I got more stares from people when I did that... god I miss that car...
