test pipe sucks

so I tried test pipe for the hell of it

god damn this thing is loud, sure, the turbo spool up faster but the car feels slower according to my butt dyno

yeah its loud and it smells too if you have the car in the garage. you can shoot out fireballs though

i have 3" piping from the turbo back....no cat and no muffler. sounds ok too. i'm also running kind of rich at the moment (need wideband) and during high rev shifts i've had a couple people and friends say 'holy shyt, fire shot out of your exhaust!'

i'm thinking of adding a universal muffler though..

I have the XS cat deleted downpipe with the RSR Exmag,And its pretty loud,Backfires alittle in 1st at low rpms,Maybe a cat will stop the backfire's,So you say your car feel faster with a cat??

yea im 3" straight piped with no cats and apperantly my car shoots out 4ft blue flames...but lol it is loud and i love hearing my lil t25 spool through the exhaust lol bcz people think im runnin a bigger turbo

When I was running a test pipe anf Megan exhaust on my CA18, I always had to be in the back of the line when I was caravaning with friends, because they complained of the smell, lol.

i shoot out fire all the time... im runnin rich and im venting... so if i let it roll from 2 or 3k rpm to 1500... it builds up and goes PAWP! and shoots a 1-2.5ft flame

so I raced my class mate today after class

nevermind it being illegal, I am not advocating street race, I mainly wanted to see the result of test pipe and see how fair I'd do against a stock s13.

As stated earlier, car is loud to the point where it annoys me, turbo spool quicker. Then I remember something, I drove my friend's accord with nothing but muffler replaced, it felt like that too, it's loud but I don't feel fast at all.

It it, at all, possible that a test pipe will actually make your car slower compared to a high flow cat? I fail to to the logic behind this. Maybe I am just really annoyed by the noise, maybe I'm concerned with the enviormental issue from the use of test pipe. Yet my butt dyno clearly tells me that the car is slower immdiately after installing test pipe.

Is there something I'm missing?

I don't see how it's possible for a test pipe to cause a loss in power for a turbocharged car, unless there's problems with the ecu...

I have projectsilvia's resonated test pipe teamed up with my N1...nice and deep, not loud at all...well, until I really get on it
