you don't need a downpipe with a testpipe, you can use a midpipe with a test pipe. We'll be selling the downpipes for 100, the midpipes for 100, and the testpipes will be 170. Heavy Throttle also sells them. Enjoy your day!

thanks for the lesson.....so a test pipe will go from the manifold to the cat back, well without the cat that is.....is that right and are they 3"?

Like previously stated, it just replaces the cat. It attatches to from the end of the downpipe, to the start of your "previously" cat-back exhaust....

I have just a 3" pipe attatched to the downpipe, and welded on the other end to the exhaust. Doing it with a premade pipe(like the ones sold), attatchable on both sides of course makes it possible to take off whenever wanted, which is a nice to thing to have...Or you can just always go to a muffler shop and ask them to make you one, but it most likely wont cost you less than $100.

Quote »so a test pipe will go from the manifold to the cat back[/quote]UM.....well actually the turbo attatches to the manifold.....

[atleast thats what i consider a test pipe, there seems to always be a lot of different opinions on what a test pipe is : )]

what exactly does the midpipe consist of? is it the catback section leading to the muffler? i'm looking for a custom setup if at all possible.

Daunt you said that i don't need both a test pipe and a down pipe, but then you said that that i attact the test pipe to the down pipe so obviously i need both.....and i guess what i meant was attact to the turbo not the manifold.....and what is a mid pipe? there seems to be some confusion here, but maybe it's just me confusing myself......lol...

Manifold->Turbo->o2 housing (or turbo extension)->downpipe->cat (or test pipe if replaced)->catback->muffler->tip.

Right?

right....but some catbacks are two sections, i dont know if thats what they mean by midpipe : )

if so, then u have to add another extension into that mix...

In that case, it would go......cat->midpipe->axle back->muffler->tips

erm, no. mid-pipes replace cats, a downpipe + a midpipe = a testpipe. : ) Except the testpipe is one pipe similar to what jesse is using minus the weld int he middle. The midpipe is for if you want to be able to put a cat in, and take it out, that way you can just slip a cat in for tests or daily driving or whatever, and easily take it out and put in a midpipe for weekend racing. : )

Ok well lucky for me i live in Canada and once it passes inspection once when i buy it there's never another inspection so i suppose it's a test pipe for me.....so tell me now if this is right....

Manifold - Turbo - O2 housing - Test pipe - Cat-back(even though there's no cat)......

am i missing anything? is the o2 housing part of the test pipe?

according to what Dauntless said that's wrong, you wouldn't need a downpipe with a test pipe cause it replaces the cat and the downpipe....i think...

in that list, it would either go

downpipecat or midpipe

or

testpipe

thats what I follow, but different people list things differently. : )

where would the downpipe go? Since you can't use a downpipe with a test pipe, does it mean that the downpipe replaces the testpipe and the catback?

so if you wanna run no-cat your gonna need a downpipe to hook to a testpipe that will hook to you exhaust. right? Im guess the only reason you would not need a test pipe is if you plan to run from downpipe to the cat to the exhaust. am i right here?Ok now my question is do they make a downpipe testpipe combo? like one long pipe that goes from turbo to exhaust flange?

I actually bought a Downpipe from HPI that is extended at the end to replace the Cat. My exhaust goes:

Jpipe,downpipe,axle-back,muffler.

according to Daunttless that's what he makes and he calls that a test pipe....it would replace the downpipe and the cat

Jeez, I can't believe the confusion that goes on here.....LOOK!

starting at the turbo...

o2 Extension, J-Pipe, Turbo Elbow, WTF ever...http://store3.yimg.com/I/jspec_1720_2260989

downpipe, frontpipe, whatever...http://store3.yimg.com/I/jspec_1693_7467123

catallytic converter or test pipe...http://www.enjukuracing.com/images/MStestpipe.jpg

THEN IT'S THE CATBACK.... which may include a midpipe and an axel back, like with an HKS Hiper, or it may just be one long pipe, like the Apexi N1.

DONE.
