Well this post is kind of a double wammy, I test drove the new 370z while my car was at my local nissan dealer getting an oil change and brakes lines bleed. I just installed the OC autosports drilled and slotted rotors with the Hawks Pads. OK, now for the impressions of the Z, I must admit I really like the exterior styling of the car over the previous Z. In fact, I really didnt like the prevous Z's back end at all and find the new Z's back end is much more appealing. The front head lights are sexy in my opinion, but from the responses from other poeple you either "love em or hate em." Now on to the good part. I was really impressed by the added room I had on the inside. The older Z I could barely fit in (i'm 6'5 240lbs) and suprisingly although the car is smaller on the outside its bigger on the inside. The interior console is much improved, but still kind of basic looking (the model i test drove didnt have the navigation or leather seats and it was an automatic). The first thing I noticed when i had to back up to get out of the parking lot is how hard it is to see when backing up due to the hatch in the back....I was praying there wasn't anything behind me because I could not see at all!!! I told the sales rep before I pulled out that I was going to drive it a little aggressive, but wouldnt be too bad (he a pretty cool younger guy so he was pretty cool with it). It has a lot of low end torque compared to the previous Z which i expected. I was a little suprised at the suspension, i thought it was going to be much harder and stiffer than what it was...I feel like my suspension on my car is tighter. I wish the exhaust was more like the previous Z, its a bit to soft and refined for a "sports" car. In all I wouldnt buy it....the suggested price on the sticker was 35gran. For 370z with no leather or upgrades that too much I would much rather, buy the G37 coupe and have more space, better interior and a luxury name for that price. I know this is a scattered post, but I just installed the drilled and slotted rotors from OC autosports and was wondering if there was a certain direction they are supossed to go? they stopping power sucks right now because they're not broken in yet, but they look sweet. I would post pics, but dont how.

New Rotors and Pads should catch like never before! It only gets worse as pads and rotors ware in... I think... Well that is how it always works for me Take it back IMHO

well i was told because the zinc coating has to wear off before they catch really good..... does anyone who have them know the direction of the slots that they supposed to be in....or does it matter?

I have them.

They grip harder after the zinc wears off. That should wear off fairly soon if you are bedded in properly.

They are directional. You are supposed to install so that as the tires rotate in a forward motion water would be channeled from the inside of the rotor to the outside edge. Hopefully that makes sense.

btw, I'd recommend better brake fluid as well. I went with ATE SuperBlue.

Motul 600 is really good stuff too, from what I hear.

I don't have a pic...I'd take one but my car is waiting for a new throttle body which should arrive shortly. My batter died from not driving it. I need to jump and driving around some and right now I don't have that ability to get to it.

Jeff (Gwoods) who I haven't seen in a while had a thread here:http://forums.g35club.org/zerothread?id=317400

I dont know if the way he has them mounted is correct or not...mine are mounted the opposite way.

I just called OC Autosports...

their website will be up in a week. They've spent the last 2 months constructing a more user friendly site.

But to confirm what I thought, how GWOODS has them mounted is WRONG.

If you are spinning the tires in a forward direction you should be able to slide your finger from inside (hub) to the outside edge.

Now we need to tell Jeff to reverse mount his rotors!

Unless there's something magical about OC Autosport's design, his rotors are fine.

Most of the slotted rotors I've seen have the slots "leaning towards the front" of the car.

I just called a rep from OC auto sports and they said when the wheels spin it should be in the same direction of the cliff hangers, which is the what I have and the opposite of Jeff. I'm so relieved because I would have hated to redo them (or have them re-done). I thought I had them on wrong because stopping power sucked for the first two days and they grinded made noises. Now they stop fine with just a little grinding no where near what it was when they were first installed. My mechanic said this is normal as the film on the pads and the chemical coating of the rotors wear off they are going to fine.

Did your rotors make a grinding noise on the first fews days of install?
