By totally stock, do you mean down to the airbox and exhaust? An SR in that form might as well be a KA. I remember when I first got mine installed, I only had a K&N cone filter, and the stock exhaust. I was kind of disappointed, because it drove just like the KA, that I didn't have to pay ~$3000 for.

Then I slapped the exhaust on, and it was a whole freakin new world. The car was actually quick. Sure, it's not Porsche turbo quick. It is, as quick if not quicker than most 2002+ model year cars on the road.

well

it had this filter and this funny exhaust, I saw the car on ebay and thought I'd drop by and test drive it.

there is no bov, no boost controller and especially.... no rpm gauge so I really didn't get to push it that much, not wanting to over rev and all but it was still kind of disappointing :(

I was going to say, I have a blacktop, custom 2.5 exhaust, FMIC, on stock boost the mother ****er still pushes me into the seat. It's a hell of a lot more powerful than the ka. Although it does take some getting used to though. The ka is a torque monster, it feels faster than it is especially down low. The sr, may feel a little weak at low rpm, but as soon as that turbo kicks it D.A.M.N. Now when I first did the swap I was like you, it felt weak. FMIC and exhaust later and it's a world away from the SR. The BOV, shouldn't make a difference of performance so much as HP is concerned.

the exhaust is the killer in loveless's application, i bet. 2.5" - 3" is the best size for an SR as it lets the turbo breath a bit better than the stock exhaust.

You can pick up an HKS boost accuator for a fairly decent price and it bolts in place of the stock wastegate actuator. Very nice for increasing your boost to around 13 or so. Then that turbo will scream

I have had my SR for about two months now. Had it swapped with intake, turbo extension, full exhaust, pullies. Needless to say it took some getting used to. When it started to feel slow again I got an HKS actuator and am at 10psi now and Goddamn! Next up is a FMIC and 14psi. Boost is more addicting than crack.

I felt the same way. With the ka you feel good twork from the start. So you dont think about taking it to 6500rpm for each gear. So when I first drove my car with everything stock I was mad as hell. I was told "dont be afraid take it to 6500 before you switch gears. Man what a differance. You really feel the power of an sr20det when you dont drive it like a granny.
