Hello Again,

Another question as I get closer to owning my first Q. On the test drive I noticed as I was slowing down on the exit ramp, that the shifter moved back and forth just a little bit (not the transmition but the actual physical stick), then stopped once the car was stopped. Is this anything I should worry about? Thanks again, your expertise is reassuring.

When you check all fluids after inspecting the dealer performed service history, pay particular attention to the 3rd (transmission) motor mount.

What does hte CarFax say? Any eveidence of body damage repair?

Carfax says it had one accident that cost less than $1000 to repair.

A 6 -7 year old car is beyond the 4 year 60,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty SO PAY an independent technican expert in the car [another dealer] to examine everything to use as a bargaining tool for price!

Shocks and suspension rubber bushings, belts, idler bearing to tension belts, spark plugs, etc may be near end of life.

Make sure every fluid has been changed including ATF and coolant, rear diff, brake, PS, etc.

Thanks. The seller brought the car in for a check up which required new Oxygen sensors, which he had fixed. Otherwise it was given a clean bill of health, he'll be faxing me these papers shortly.

Is the shifter movement something I should be concerned with?

Ive seen that before and i dont really think its an issue, it may because theres a bushing worn out or the trans mount is worn. Any 01 is going to have these parts worn out unless of course theyve bene replaced which is VERY unlikely.

Good thing mine is a 2000, then!

In MA, I would put it on a lift and check for the salt demons. No mention of fluids or dealer performed service history, yet.
