Bubba- What do the S-4's run price wise. I have always been a fan of Audi.

New S4's run in the low to mid $40K's.

Jezter: I agree with you. The looks are kinda bland and stealthy, but I kinda like stealth. Very comfortable cars too.

The main S4 gripe I've heard from my Audi owner friends are the stock brakes. They fade quickly on the track. But they can be easily upgraded.

Very good points.I like that stealthy look also.

When I look at cars I think that the things that I don't like can be up graded.Like Grills, brakes, mufflers, fog lights, boost guages,ect....the propblem is I am having trouble up grading due to my wife keeping close track on our funds. We are going to be getting into a bigger house in a few years. So I need to get something macked out soon so that it will be close to paid off when we do go house shoping.I also want to stay under or at 30K.Hence the EVO 8 and STI.

the audi s4 retails for 42k, well, SCC says anyway, also, if i had 3ok to spend, and couldnt have a G35 the way i wanted it for that price, id be headed to subaru without a doubt (considering the 35oZ is out of the question of course)

My car and all 96+ maximas go 0-60 faster than the crossfire.

that may be true, but its not only o-6o that counts, personally i think the crossfire has a wierd ,yet 'tantalizing' look to it

CROSSFIRE:

Power numbers do not back up it's hefty price tag....

3.2liter V-6 from Mercedes SLK 215HP, 229LB FTAutoweek price as tested: $34.495

I'll take a mildly optioned Z.

RWD performance is not possible below $30k(in today's market). This is the cost of entry.

This is also why Nissan won't build a cheaper car(S16), that will outperform the Z. They can already lighten the buyer's wallet of $30k-plus for a Z. Still well worth it, and with the cost of extras, interest on all new cars, the Z and G35 are still best RWD performance at the entry level performance price point.($30k-or near)

I understand. I think either would be a good choice, but I think as a long term daily driver, the STi might be a little more civilized and reliable than the EVO. Enjoy

HeHe I was thinking that the EVO would make a better daily driver. The good thing is that what ever I get will only see the light of day like once a week if that.Since I got my company car I have only put about 1000k miles on the Spec V(about 3 months). The EVO/STI will be about the same or less.

well then take out the drivability factor, cause if you're only driving it once a week, it doesnt really matter, my vote goes to STi, but as u know, its all opinion, i would also take subaru's build quality over mitsubishi

I think after looking at and driving both theay are about the same as far a quality goes. They are both well made cars. The Subaru service dept was real nice and the guy seamed to know what he was talking about.I did not get to talk to anyone in Mitsubishi service.

I'll never own another Mitsubishi, and will always recommend against them. They have piss poor electrical systems. I'm sure that some models are worse than others. Maybe they got their act together with the Evo8. Then again, my mechanic and his wife just had the dealership buy back their 2002 Eclipse under the lemon law after they spent 6 months trying to fix it.

Mitsu's overall reputation for reliability has been lower than Sube's, but it's hard to tell which of these two cars would be more reliable as they're both new models. I agree with Nizmo about the EVO interior not being exciting , but those Recaro front seats are wonderful.

From the 2 Evo owners I know, the only negatives they mentioned were the lack of a factory installed cruise control and that the OEM tires wear very quickly. (very soft compound).

Of the few WRX owners I know, the only complaints they mentioned to me were the interior materials, and that the paint appears to scratch more easily than other cars.

In all cases, they loved their cars and would not hesitate to buy them again, which to me is a pretty good endorsement for either.

my favorites about the mitsu's interior are the seats, and steering wheel, other than that, nothing special, ive never sat in the STi, so i dunno, as far as exterior styling, its all a matter of opinion, its more or less a throw up, i like the STi, but hte evo8 looks good too
