Anyone remember the story about me driving the Crossfire to buy a $15 Yamaha keyboard, getting a ticket, hiring a lawyer, and getting stuck in the mud in the ghetto? In the end, that day cost me $500.

Well, I recently installed Test Drive Unlimited for the PC. You get all of Hawaii to cruise around or race in, and you earn money from races and wagers while visiting dealerships around the island and purchasing vehicles and homes.

I earned my first $100,000 and was determined to buy a Cadillac XLR-V. I set my in-game GPS for the 25-mile journey in real time (at 140mph). During that drive, I spent ALL $100,000 on speeding tickets, payment for other people's vehicles that I damaged, and then ended up spending time in prison because I ran out of money to pay fines. (It makes you count down 30 seconds while the camera pans over the police station).

I eventually made it to the Cadillac dealer and test drove the XLR, but I couldn't afford to buy it. :(

I look forward to the off-road vehicles. No more driving a Mustang through the woods.

And I'm generally too lazy to reboot into windows, so I'll have to keep the gaming on my Xbox...

I wonder if the new one is going to console? Sounds like a sweet game.

the last time i played a test drive game was late 90's. I remember it being a pretty good game. i've been looking for really good driving/racing games lately, and from what i see in the original, looks like i may be picking up this sequel.

They have it for the 360 and PS3, plus it's quite old so you should be able to pick up a copy of it for either of one for like $20.
