Terrible noise when turning the Steering wheel

I have a 1991 240sx. When I turn the wheel at low speed (like pulling into a parking spot) There is a loud whine. I think its the power steering, but i'm not sure if it is the whole unit or maybe just some lines. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks guys.

Your pump may be on its way out. check fluid level as well.

must be almost empty on the fluid.mine does it too. once i add P.S fluid it goes awaybut we gotta start saving for a pump.

it's really hard to kill the ps pumps in our cars. even the FSM says that running them low on fluid shouldnt damage them. mine ran low for a month or so until i got a replacement for the hose that was leaking. once it wasnt running dry anymore it shut up and worked fine afterwards. check for leaks where the hoses connect or in the rubber hoses themselves, make sure the resivoir is filled properly and the noise should go away. if not then you may need a new pump.

Well it looks like I have a small leak, but as for now, i added some fluid and it runs like new. Thanks for the help guys.
