i'm also getting bad mileage. i used to get 24-26 in the city and 29-31 on the highway (27 with ac on). now i get at best 24 and my driving condition is 7 minutes city and 15 minutes freeway.i contribute that mostly to the tires, since my mpg was fine until i replaced my tires. my old ones were michelin mx4 which came with the car and had very little tread left. i now have falkens fk451 z rated tires. i replaced them myself at my school's autoshop. when i took off the michelins and put on the falkens, i noticed that the falkens were substancially heavier (more tread and stiff sidewall). and there's also the fact that because new tires have more tread (.5-1in?), they're slightly taller than old tires. this offsets your miles reading. ex: same distance; old tires - 320miles, new tires - 300miles. with new tires, there is more rotational mass requiring more gas and a mileage reading that differs from your old tires. I think a good part is due to your new tires (refering to top post). i bet you didn't go with light touring tires which were stock on the car, but you went with heavier performance oriented tires.

haha, you dont even want to know my gas milage with 450 injectors on ca18det with a reprogramed ecu that makes me dump fuel to handle the boost...And im not even running high boost at this moment...

:ylsuper TURBO!!!!!

You're right, I don't want to know what your gas mileage is. =) Though I can kind of imagine. With the SR20 on stock boost and an open exhaust, I was getting about 250-260 per tank. I put the silencer back into the exhaust, now I'm in the 320 range. I'm going to be interested to see what it's like at 10psi.

hmmm im wondering, are there things for sr20 powered cars fuel economy wise? like an intake is good for a n/a carstock also exhaust. probably not since it is turboed eh i could be wrong. if i got 300 miles to the tank i would be fine. stock boost of course.

Fuel economy and turbo charger do not belong in the same thought process.

That having been said, there are some things that you can do to try to tame the turbo's appetite for fuel. The more restrictive your exhaust is, the less quickly boost will build. The less quickly boost builds, the more gas you save.

To really stiffle the turbo and get better mileage, you could leave the stock airbox in. But at that point, you might as well go drive a Civic. Why get a turbo?

How heavy your foot is will play a huge role in gas mileage.

For one full tank try shifting before 3 grand, resist the lil hondas buzzin around ya. :) Thats if you got a 5 speed.

I only get like 265 ish miles to a tank....but my 240 is very very familiar with all areas of the rpm range :D

A stock, non-tuned SR driven normally does not get bad gas mileage...but if you are in boost alot gas mileage will quickly suffer...

Intake, exhaust, plugs, wires, o2 sensor, etc...and a boost controller set low for daily driving should help you out...

air fuel controller = modifies signal going to ecu to dump more or less fuel depending on the controllers settings based upon the signal coming from the maf. Just remember that your ecu has maps built in and where it looks depends on how much air is entering the cylinders aka via the maf. So if the air fuel controller modifies that signal to say there's more air going in, the ecu will dump more fuel in and vice versa.
