im replacing my upper timing chain tensioner, i read all the write ups on here, but one question...do you need to put any kind of liquid gasket around it before you install it?the old one didn't seem to have any evidence of any kind of gasket, but since they are oil pressure driven that leaves me wondering if it needs it.

No RTV around the tensioner. If this is the DOHC, just bolt it up to the spec'd torque specs and call it a day.
