I was wondering if somebody can answer a question I have. I have a non-turbo 1990 300ZX and I need two new tension bars for the front end. I am not sure if I should get an aftermarket tension bars (like SPL) or just get the OEM factory tension bars. Is there problems with installing the aftermarket at a dealership vs. OEM? Is there subsantial difference between aftermarket and OEM? Thanks in advance

I would recommend aftermarket if you ever plan on doing anything with your suspension in the future (and you have the cash). Aftermarket arms are adjustable and lighter than factory tension rods, but besides that they hold no advantages. Also, considering you can grab a set of used OEM tension rods for pennies on the dollar, they're a lot cheaper than a set from say Powertrix ($139 last I checked).

As far as getting them installed, why do it at a dealer? There's literally 3 bolts on each rod, 2 14mm and one 17mm. That's it. If you're getting adjustable rods you'll also want some antiseize, and lithium grease but other then that you're good.

+2 17mm for the tension rod bracket. Need to release the tension in the part before install.
