I want to change my wornout bushings for some whiteline ones. we have a fab shop at my work that I can use with some pretty big vises and some oxy/ acetlyne cuting torches and a bunch of other stuff that I dont think I would need for this. Anyway, has anybody done this themselves? Will I be able to get the old ones out? Im pretty sure I will be able to get new ones in with a vise? Any advise is greatly apreciated.

I have another question. I was looking on ebay and there are 2 companies offering adjustable tension rods for around $150 shipped. I do not drift often but like to do driving in twist mountian roads alot. Would there be any benifit from the rods with this style of driving. It is also my daily driver so I dont know if its a bad idea.

Really improves steering response. You are definitely going to feel sharp bumps more...Doesn't matter if you are drifting or road racing, it's definitely going to improve your front suspension...I've heard some people say that they will also help reduce understeer...

i just put the nismo TC bushings into my stock tension rods today... took about 30 minutes (but i have access to a lift and a press;))

1.) take off tension rods

2.) press out old bushings (big press machine)

3.) put grease on the new bushing and the tension rod itself and press the new one in (using the same big press)

4.) reinstall tension rods:D

its easy as hell, and the difference is night and day! my car used to shake at high speed and while breaking, but now it feels like a new car! best $50 i ever spent on my s13

hmm. well, I dont have acess to a press so if im gonna have to pay a shop to do it I might as well get the adjustable ones. my only concern was that stock ones are rubber/liquid and the adjustable ones are solid aluminum, thats a pretty drastic change in the amount of give and play of the material, I know that firming it up some is ok but I wasnt sure if the adjustable ones were overkill for a daily driven car. I can handle a firm solid ride, i just dont want anything harsh.

I just installed topspeed adjustable tension rods on my 240 and they change the ride for sure. The car seems to have a little better turn in, and the feel is a lot better.

BUT the ride is a bit rougher than one might want for daily driving... especially if the roads in your area suck.

I like mine but if you want something not AS harsh as these, then check out the ones you can get at PDM racing.

well, I will be firming up the whole suspension. I already have H&R springs and AGX's on the way. Do you think the tension rods would make the ride any harsher than the stiffer suspension will?

its really up to you. Being adjustable they mainly just adjust your car's caster, no real need if you just want a good car for the road and the occasional mountain attack.

with mine, I know whenever I go over train tracks or whatever. but I think its worth it.

thats a toe control link. fancy name for tie rod. its on the steering rack. the t/c rods are short for tension control rods. ok im actually not sure about the control part. nissan parts computers just call them tension rods. they also go by the name strut rod as far as some other manufacturers are concerned. they are like a trailing link sorta, but in the front. wait no, not really. :)happy?i am.i do mostly engine work and electrical diag.susp. is a black art.

Move the tire fore [lower arm] and aft of a center line .........stagger in racing terms, caster in alignment terms.

nope, not torsion rod/bar. you are right about everything else there. well maybe not traction control rod either. that one is kind of ambiguous. a torsion bar is what the frontier and d21 trucks have for a front suspension. it is like a coil spring without the coils. make sense? i can go into more detail.

well, hopefully I will have them by this week and I can let you guys know how they work out, seems like a good deal considering they were like $60 cheaper than factory rods with poly bushings from pdm.

It's pretty self-explanatory: http://importnut.net/240pics/bushings/page_01.htm

Since we're in the topic, I just bought a set of Tanabe tension rods for my S14 earlier today. I was very impressed by the quality and weight. It's a lot more beefier than the stock tension rod in diameter and offers a different range of adjustability. I haven't installed it yet, so I don't know how my car would react to it. But judging by the way it looks, it's very nice.

My $0.02
