I tried to install SPL tension rod todayright side installed, pretty easy

while working on the passenger side, here's the problem:the bushing of the existing TC rod burst pretty bad and dislocated completely, i had a hard time removing the nut for the long bolt. Well, after i removed the nut, i can't push the long bolt out ! i tried to hammer it hardly, nothing happened, looks like the metal core inside the bushing is stuck permenantly with the bolt. Anybody have same kind of experience ? any help will be appreciated!

PB blaster the hell out of it. Then take a dead blow hammer and beat the living crap out of it.

exactly... just hammer harder and it will come. if it doesn't then borrow a dremel/hacksaw/plasma cutter or whatever...

take out the other bolts/nuts first. get a bigger hammer. use another bolt to push it out. you will probably need a replacement bolt anyway because the threads are gona be fuxored after you get it out. get a good quality bolt from the dealer or a specialty fastener shop.

you could try hosing the sucker down with the pb or wd on the inside thread, and see if you can turn the head of the bolt with a wrench and see if that helps out with your problem. if not then time to bust out the dremel tool.

ooo you could always try a blow torch. burn the hell out of the inner bushing and stuff but it should expand the metal insert a bit and let you hammer the bugger out that way.

thx guys i ended paying midas $20 to heat the inner metal thing with a torch ... pain in the A$$ ... took him long time to hammer it off ... good 20 bucks spent ...

steering response is very good ... and braking is direct ...

now what caster setting is normal ? should i bring it to a alignment first ? or can i measure caster myself ?

get an alignment. they'll fix your caster and whatever else may be messed up with your alignment. your tires and wallet (via mileage) will thank you.

I did mine 2 weeks ago,,, try putting the front end back on the ground or up in the air. lots of torque is placed on the t bar that might be binding the bushing. try releiving the torque by taking the front end off the ground or putting it up on a jack

Death to tension rod bolt, I'm going to have to hit up a local shop to have them heat and hammer it off. The right side came out in 5min flat...the bushing was leaking but not as bad as the otherside completely ripped up.

if i had my old TC rod i yanked a few months ago, i'd send it to you, but alas it is in the garbage dump somewhere. and i doubt you'd want it, it was kinda twisted :)
