Earlier today I found some info on the tension rod bushings on the front suspension (J30), anyway have looked at mine and need to replace, looks like the rod is easy to get off, but can you do the bush at home or do you need a press/special tools??

Are they really only $10-15 each?

By the way new to the forum, I am an old brit car guy (did you know that Datsun copied English Austins with permission when they were getting started?) but work on my wifes J30 when I can and love my 99 Maxima SE with 5-speed and love my 54 Austin Healey

I just did mine This weekend, I could not get them out by hand, I had totake them to work and use a hydraulic press. It took about 1200 psi befor theybroke loose. I paid $70 for the 2 shipped. Other then the trip to the press the whole job took less then an hour.

Here is a link to instructions http://www.fuzzycats.com/docs/...t.pdf

I got the parts from Everything Nissan for $30 each a couple of weeks ago, since the wife drived this car every day I needed to be able to do the job in a day, and weekends only worked for me.

Any, couple calls to machine shops got me to a place that was open Saturday, and not to far away, needed a breaker bar and PB blaster to get the parts off, but had them both off in 20 minutes or so including jacking the car, shop charged $17 to press them in, so saved over $100 over the cost of buying the rod and bushing.

Went back on faster than they came off, do think you need a shop to press these on and off, I did try a five pound hammer and drift with no luck at all.

Anyway, easy job, steering and suspension feel much tighter, still need to do the front struts, this place is a great help
