i asked my local mechanic recently to replace the upper links and stabilizer bushings on the front end of my 93 q. i also handed him the tension rod bushings (p/n 54476-35F20). he replaced all but the tension rod bushings. he said when he took off one of the tension rods, it seemed as though the new bushing would not fit in properly. he measured the exsiting bushing on the car as 2 11/16 OD and the new bushings as 2 1/2 OD, leaving a 3/16 gap that neither he nor i could explain. he asked me to doublecheck the p/n before he hammered the old one out, so that's what i'm doing here. can anyone verify that this is the correct p/n for a 93 and if so, has anybody done this recently and did it seem at first that it might be a loose fit only to have it work out correctly in the end? many thanks. randy

I think something is wrong if they look like they won't fit. Was there a different bushing on the A cars vs. the standard - or the T models vs. standard? They're a very snug fit - you need a hydraulic press to push them out and in.

There ARE two different size tension arm bushings--one for the 'active, one for the plain vanilla on the pre 94 cars.

thanks guys. well, not sure what the problem is just yet. called scottsdale and they verified that the number they shipped me was the correct one for my car (non-active). texasoil is right--there are 2 different ones for pre 94's. anyway, i plan to get under the car this weekend and see if either my mechanic was looking at things wrong, or i suppose it IS possible (as remote as it seems) that a previous owner might have been doing a repair/replace of some sort and replaced the entire tension rod with an active tension rod. anybody know if that's possible? thanks again and i'll post an update if i get as far as i hope to this weekend. randy
