Greetings

My manual shows the arrow in the tension rod bushing pointing towards the rod. However, in another post, is appears two members have removed oem equipment with it pointed in exactly the opposire direction.

The reason for posting this quesion is I have received two new rods from Scottsdale and both rods have the bushing arrow pointing in exactly the opposite direction from that shown in the manual....they point away from the rod.

So ........which one is wrong.??????

Thanks

Just Installed two new rods the other day,oem .. The arrow points to the front. May be a blue dot also on the bushing at the arrow end, this is front. I would say that if you have a assembly with the arrow pointing toward the lower controll arm ,it is installed incorrectly!

Just looked in the shop manual,FA23 states place arrow mark on bushing facing tension rod before installing bushing.. But, as my last posting the rod assembly's (oem) had bushings arrows to the front. Let's see if our q45 expert here can answer this. I also called our sister infinity dealer in tampa and talked to a fellow master tech and he also said the rods come from the factory with the arrow to the front, that is away from the lower controll arm. After over 20 years working with datsun, nissan, infinity and lexus I must admit I have seen lot's of miss prints and incorrect diagrams!!!!

Like the one that shows the oil pan as a lift point in some manuals?

No doubt! I'd go with the way it came from the factory if you have OEM rods! The transistor packs check "backwards" from the factory manual on my meter too... but that may be differences in the multi-meter.

In 14 years They have had multiple bushings designs, there were problems with subcontractors in the beginning......failures [leaks] before 4 years and 60k.......now the current ones at least last to 60k if the rest of suspension is kept tight.

Which stress do you compensate for: braking or acceleration [inward or outward]. .....arrow direction.

So what is the true concensus?

Arrow to the front or the Rod?

J30 manual states to the rod and will check to see the orientation when I remove old ones. Will also ask Joe to check stock assembly to see the orientation there as well

I just pulled down my truck (most of the dash, etc.) for A/C repairs, etc. I noticed that a lot of parts have an arrow that always faces the front of the car... maybe the book is wrong? I think if you buy the rods with the bushings already installed, the arrow is facing forward, but I'm not sure. I'd like to get this cleared up soon too, since I have a set waiting for installation!

Climbed under car today and found that the original rods have the bushing with the arrow facing the rod.

I will have Joe check a stock rod and see if this has changed before installing

Ordered my J bushings today from scottsdale. Brian there said the stock rod assembly has the arrow pointing toward the rod as my manual indicates and as they are currently assembled on my car. Cannot speak for Q though but I would assume they are the same
